Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

@JasonStoddard - I'm sure you've heard it before, but I'd love to see Schiit get into the portable (ie. battery powered) product space. A Magni Unity with a built in battery would be a great starting point!

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]

I just got a Mojo 2 today, pairing with Utopia 2022 headphones - and I’m pretty impressed so far. I’ve long been indecisive about upgrading to the Mojo 2, as I have a lot of other good portable DAC/amps, but the Mojo 2 does seem better than most. I haven’t done any direct comparisons yet, and...

I appreciate the response, but I probably wouldn't use either feature much if at all.

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

I'm curious, have you compared the Mojo 1 to Mojo 2 and found a noticeable difference? I didn't ask in the Mojo 2 thread, as 'confirmation bias' will likely lead most people who purchased the Mojo 2 to claim it sounds better. I've historically found differences in DACs to be very subtle, and...

Reply to review by 'MarkF786' on item 'HiFiMAN RE800 Silver'

It‘s odd the reviewer claims there’s no driver flex as it’s the worst for any IEM I’ve owned. When using tips with a good seal, I here the telltale driver flex clicking sound when inserting them in my ears, or when moving them while in my ears.

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

Well, I finally received the new drivers I purchased, installed them and now the headphones are working well again. My dealer first quoted me $325 for replacement drivers, and I sent them payment. Then Focal reached out to charge me $550 + shipping; apparently $325 is the dealer cost. There...

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

Bad example. Focal admitted that the drivers in Elear and other early models were defective. Despite that, they rape their customers to replace the drivers when they fail outside of warranty: current price for new drivers is $550 + shipping. Meanwhile, you can buy other Focal headphones with...

[FiiO KB1K]FiiO Multimedia Keypad KB1K Is Officially Released!

It seems this would need some good OS integration in Windows and MacOS - and though i love FiiO’s hardware, they seem lacking in software development (like for mobile devices).

Lyr 3 - The new Coherence™ and Continuity™ hybrid amplifier from Schiit - Impression & discussion thread

It probably makes the Lyr 3 more like the solid-state mode of the Lyr+, which I also own & like.

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

It shows how Focal treats their customers: release a defective product, then try to fleece them when it breaks.

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

I'm starting to truly despise the Focal company. Now that the dealer has opened the ticket with Focal to order the drivers, Focal emailed me saying replacement drivers cost $550 + shipping. There seems to be a lot of confusion in the emails from Focal with me repeatedly having to explain the...

Focal agreed to sell the replacement driver pair for $325. I'm going to proceed with buying them. I'll let you know how it all works out.

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I’m a huge fan of Schiit, owning about 15 of their products (not counting accessories & upgrades), and I’ve been following the various threads for the products I own - and no other product seems to have the high failure rate as the Lyr+, from what I’ve seen over the past couple months since...

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

Has anyone been able to buy replacement drivers? Through my dealer, Focal quoted $325 for the drivers and $100 bench fee, so I asked my dealer to check if Focal will just sell me the drivers. Considering new Elegia’s sell for $299, the price is overly inflated, but I might consider buying the...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I didn't use the stock Tung-Sol but rather a Raytheon tube I was using in my Lyr 3 (and used again in my Ly3 while waiting for a new Lyr+). The tube works fine in my new Lyr+.

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

Any recommendations for a US dealer of Psvane and Shuguang tubes? Warning: avoid HiFiPartStore.com in China. I placed a ~$200 order with them a few weeks ago, then they emailed me saying there were delivery issues and asked for my phone number. I replied to them, and sent several emails...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

It's hard to determine from your video, but what I've discovered is that when switching either gain or tube/solid state, it takes a while for the amp to switch over - during which time none of the buttons are responsive.

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

My replacement Lyr+ arrived. I've been running it for a couple hours and so far (knock on wood) everything is working fine. I'll note it runs MUCH cooler than the one I had with a channel that would fail after warmup. My stack is now: - Bifrost 2 - Modius ES - Saga S (I might eliminate this...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Thanks for the reply, but I was referring to failed channels, dead amps, etc; the misaligned buttons are more minor. In any case, I just wanted to provide a 'heads up' to keep an ear out for any increase in defects.

Focal Elegia - what do you think?

Sennheiser and Shure are great in this regard as well. With Sennheiser, for the HD-600 & HD-650 models (and likely others), it's easy and inexpensive to buy replacement parts. And with Shure, for example with their IEMs, they'll sell you a new pair (of whatever the latest equivalent model is)...

Focal Elegia - what do you think?

Yes, they’re “grey market”, meaning Adorama buys them from another country where the prices are cheaper, then sells them in the US. Focal (or other manufacturers) don’t like the practice because they want to maximize their profits in the US. Apparently they want to maximize their profits from...

Focal Elegia - what do you think?

What blows my mind is Focal can sell the Elegia for $299, but replacement drivers for the Elear with a known product defect are more expensive, for customers who spent $1,000 on them! I have quite mixed feelings about Focal anymore.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Calling @Jason Stoddard - has there been some manufacturing issues with the Lyr+ recently? In the impressions thread there have been about 6 people reporting defective new units in the past month. I was one of them, and should be receiving my new unit this week. Fingers crossed, I don't have...
