Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Well, I don't like to be the person that only chimes in with negative news, but my replacement pair of ATH-TWX9's now have a failed left driver. Some of you may remember my first fiasco with these things back in November (to summarize: the IEM's somehow became de-synced from each other and would...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

My replacement pair of ATH-TWX9's arrived today–two days earlier than expected. Gotta love Amazon 2-day shipping. Back in business. Hopefully this pair lasts longer than 3-weeks. I can now use the features in the AT Connect app. Setting touch button sensitivity to high fixed the wonky controls...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I am undecided about what I will do with the faulty pair. I'll let you know if I offload them.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

The Amazon rep said they will be delivered on 11/17, so if they ship tomorrow that's three day shipping. That's how long the original pair took to arrive.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Amazon JP responded and will be sending a replacement pair. I do not need to return the faulty pair. They were very apologetic. Considering that they would need to reimburse me $98 for the return shipping, this isn't much of a loss for them. I've been an Amazon member for over 10 years and their...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I sent an email to Amazon JP pleading my case, as their live chat was closed for the day. $98 to ship a one pound package seems exorbitant, and the potential for the package to be denied because of the lithium batteries is disconcerting. Buying international is always a gamble, and unfortunately...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I just read through your posts. Shipping lithium batteries certainly complicates things. I ran an online quote through DHL and the cost is showing $98. That's nearly half the value of the earbuds. I'll try speaking with an Amazon rep. The AT rep I spoke with was friendly, but ultimately...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

For those considering the ATH-TWX9's, I want to share with you my experience. I purchased them from Amazon Japan on October 18. They arrived quickly, and worked right out of the box. I bought them to wear in the gym, and for the past three weeks they performed nearly flawlessly (the ANC touch...

    Stax SR-X9000

Yep, you can't defy physics. Headphones are great for what they are, and are the next best thing if speakers are impossible/impractical. But having the drivers an inch or so from your ears means true soundstaging and imaging is unachievable. Having performers surround your head versus them...

    The Stax Thread III

For a while I tuned my 007 MK1 to Harman target using a convolution filter. I then used the SR-009 filter which I preferred. I am now running custom PEQ with a bass shelf below 150Hz, a high shelf above 9kHz, and corrections to dips/peaks in the midrange.

Anyone in Michigan around the Metro Detroit area?

Overture moved to a new location earlier this year or late last year. It looks to be larger than their last location. Paragon is rather small and the space they do have is packed with stuff. Been there twice, including once during CES. Never drove but the taxi's are maniacs.

    Stax SR-X9000

Would be a shootout for sure between the Shangri-La, HE-1, and SR-X9K. Throw the CRBN in there too.

    Stax SR-X9000

There's been a flux of new flagship headphones this year, but none intrigue me more than the SR-X9K. I truly believe it will have the technical prowess to reign king.

Anyone in Michigan around the Metro Detroit area?

I avoid Detroit and surrounding suburbs if possible. I was in Denver last week and their highways are fairly complex to navigate, but the speed limits are 55-65 and people actually obey them. In southeast Michigan if you ain't doing 85 you're slow.

    The Stax Thread III

Do you have a way to audition these? Any shops local to you that sell Stax? I've never heard the SR-L700, so can't speak to its sonic qualities. I also think they look odd, but once they're on your head it doesn't much matter. Comfort is reported to be quite good. I own the SR-007 Mk1. These...

Four years after the L.K.S DA004: the Musetec DA005 DAC

Using a NAS or streaming over a network using RAAT or NAA's with other players will isolate the computer from DAC. Ethernet offers galvanic isolation by design through transformer coupling. There is still potential for EMI and RFI to be picked up along the ethernet cable. This is where fiber...
