Review by 'SV_huMMer' on item 'iFi audio nano iDSD Black Label'
This review is part of iFi Audio’s generous Nano BL Tour, where I am happy and proud to be selected as one of the reviewers for the European leg of the Tour. Therefore, a disclaimer is due here: Disclaimer: the unit tested was a loaner from iFi, which means exactly this: I received it from iFi...- SV_huMMer

You can't have replay gain and bit prefect at the same time. Replay Gain is software signal processing, having it enabled means bit perfect is impossible.- SV_huMMer

The smallest in this price range AND with the battery I can think of is iFi iDSD Nano (way bigger than the Dragonfly though and requires a (rather) rare USB Type B OTG cable (or a clumsy adapter). I own and use this one, and it sounds absolutely gorgeous for the size and price, and IMO, WAY...- SV_huMMer

Review: CEntrance DACport Slim DAC/Amp Combo
Am I missing it here, or it was not mentioned - what exactly DAC chip is used in the Slim? The same Verita, as in HD? Or a different chip?- SV_huMMer

Are you sure it is true for headphone jack as well? Are there any technical proofs of this? I know Z3 does support natively hi-res output to a USB DAC, but I've always thought internal playback is still downsampled to Android specs (just like UAPP does with its "Play through Android" mode.- SV_huMMer

It's good to see that the quest for best quality digital audio on the go goes on! :) Downloaded and installed your player. A very good project, that has all the chances to eventually turn into a strong contender in the market of custom Android digital audio output. It certainly still has...- SV_huMMer

Well, browsing to a file and editing it every time you connect the USB device is a bit cumbersome for everyday use,, but thanks a lot for pointing to this solution: it may be a saver in an emergency situation, where you need to connect something badly.- SV_huMMer

Switched from Samsung Galaxy S3 to Xperia Z1 specifically for the unique ability to charge the phone while using the USB DAC! LOL ) But I agree - flaps are a little... well... annoying! :)- SV_huMMer

It may probably be related to the power capabilities of your model. I had similar issues with Xperia Sola, which also had USB OTG feature, but anything that consumes above 100mA, would fail. Try the following: 1) use a powered USB hub between your Xperia and devices. I. e. Xperia -...- SV_huMMer

There are lots of such DACs and even DAC/Amps, but the outcome strongly depends on the Android device, namely on how much current it is capable of providing in OTG mode. And this varies greatly among different devices. M2Tech HiFace DAC, GeekOut, Resonessence Labs Herus are just very few...- SV_huMMer
