Brand new Sennheiser IE800S S Earphones Latest Version, replaced under warranty
Brand new, unused Sennheiser IE800S Flagship Earphones. Very similar to the IE800, but with a slightly more balanced sound. They're very natural, non-fatiguing, accurate and incredibly fulfilling. Even with the iPhone, they're truly remarkable. I'd say they are identical to the HD800S over-ear...- audiokid

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
This week I will be adding a Lehmann Black Cube Linear amp between my Chord Hugo and HD800 S. No idea whether it will offer improvements or not, but thought I would take a punt on it. I would prefer a normal volume control (like with the Lehmann) but it would also have to sound better for...- audiokid

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
I received my HD800S yesterday, and first impressions are very good. I owned some HD800 last year, which I really liked but they did get a bit much for extended listening, the classic treble spike. I have owned Stax 507, L-700 and SR-009 on various Stax energisers. I have also owned LCD-X and...- audiokid

The Stax Thread III
I now own the L-700, and I think they're great. Paired with the 006ts Kimik Energiser. More detailed, open and spacious than the 507, which I have always been very fond of too. They're easier to drive, more frequency extremes, wider sound stage. The L-700 are lighter to wear, but on the...- audiokid

Sennheiser HD800 vs Stax 507 with Chord Hugo
Interesting to re-read the thread after all these months. I must be going mad... Since the last post I sold the HD800 after a couple of months as eventually they we're a bit too much – too intense, too hot on the treble. Partnered with a Hugo and a Lehmann linear. I also wasn't using...- audiokid

Re the 'new 507', I asked Symmetry in the UK (the distributer) and they informed me that there isn't a new 507 model, there's only one model, so perhaps the HiFi + review is incorrect?- audiokid

The Stax SR-507 Thread
I have the new 5170 system, I bought it around a month ago. I didn't realise the 507s were a new version, is that definitely the case, or perhaps a misprint? Anyway, I have owned 507 before and they seem similar to me, although that was with a 323s, and the new 006 Kimik will bring a few small...- audiokid

Bit of an update for those interested. I have been enjoying more hours on the latest Stax 5170 system - the 507 Earspeakers with the 006ts Kimik Energiser. Not sure what has happened, but I think I have experienced them 'coming on song'. It's an absolutely astounding system tonight. I was...- audiokid

I'm guessing not, if anything it wouldn't be as good as it's a lower spec model. So, with that in mind, in the same situation, would you stick with the 507 or upgrade to the 009?- audiokid

Thanks, I'll check that out. I'm not looking to change the energiser (although may swap for a 323s if that was better), so my dilemma is: - Keep my 507 with the 006ts Kimik (ie the 5170 system) - Upgrade the 507 to the 009, pairing with the 006ts Kimik or the 323s. Does anyone have thoughts on...- audiokid

Thanks. Yes, the tubes should be ok. The 006ts Kimik is only a couple of weeks old. The 007t is just going to be too big for my home office desk, so hoping I can do the 009s justice with the smaller amp.- audiokid

Hi guys, has anyone any experience of driving the SR-009s with a 006ts Kimik? I'm currently using the 006ts Kimik with the 507.- audiokid

Hi guys, as a previous Stax owner, I'm reunited with a new set. I'm working from home a bit more at the moment, so a good desktop system is very much appreciated. I own the new Stax 5170 system: 507s with the Kimik version of the 006ts. First impressions are good. Previously I owned...- audiokid

GRADO: What's your favourite model?
Hi guys, I'm interested to hear what your top Grado models are. Maybe add a one liner as to why? I didn't get on with the GS1000 (way too bright) and found the PS1000 (physically too heavy) so my faves to date are: 1. PS500e: The most balanced Grados to me – with just enough weight...- audiokid

Chord Hugo
Hi guys, hoping you can help, or maybe Rob can advise? My Chord Hugo has developed a rattle when shaken, like something is loose inside. The dealer seems fairly sure this is normal but I would like some reassurance. Does yours rattle? Is this normal?- audiokid
