Yamaha EPH-100
The thing is, visually, there is nothing wrong with them. It's inside that they're broken. I take very good care of them. I have a few $20 IEM's that I've used for many many years and treated like ****, and they're still going strong.- davidgotsa

Yamaha EPH-100
**** this. I've had 4 pairs of these in 3 years because I love them and kept hoping the next ones wouldn't break. But they did. I'll have to look elsewhere, I guess.- davidgotsa

Yamaha EPH-100
It has now been two weeks since I drunkenly but carefully took apart my Yamahas, cleaned them and got rid of all the wax that was stuck inside. The issue where one side goes quiet almost daily hasn't been an issue since then even though I've been on long train, bus and plane rides and have...- davidgotsa

Glad to hear that I wasn't crazy and started imagining things. They do sound better. The problem hasn't come back yet. Good news but we'll have to wait and see.- davidgotsa

Sorry, no before/after pictures. I've had them in for a few hours now and still no problem. I'm hoping for this good run to continue.- davidgotsa

Yamaha EPH-100
Not sure if this has been discussed a lot already but I've been experiencing the same problem as many others; one side going quieter. After leaving that one side out of my ear for 10-20 minutes, problem gone. Yesterday I decided to dig inside and once the tips are off there some kind of...- davidgotsa

Audeze LCD-X
I enjoyed the Ed-8 while I owned it but, except for the obvious isolation situation, the HD800 is better in every way. They are barely comparable.- davidgotsa

Yamaha EPH-100
I've owned 4 pairs of EPH-100 and they've all broken down in one way or another even though I'm careful. I take more care of these than I did with my HD800s since they're a lot more delicate.- davidgotsa

Yamaha EPH-100
Just experienced the problem with the volume on one side going down noticeably. It went away after 3 minutes though. This is the first time this had happened to me after about 2 years with EPH-100's.- davidgotsa

Does it get much better than the HD800?
The consensus seems to be: wait until there are headphones between the LCD-2 and HD-800 but aren't quite the LCD-3. Maybe Audeze's next pair will be the ones we're all looking for. EDIT: I haven't been on here for a while, I'll go read the thread about the LCD-X or whatever they are...- davidgotsa

Does it get much better than the HD800?
Long time no talk. I finally got to listen to the Audeze LCD-2's and liked them very much. If only there was something perfectly in between the HD800's and LCD-2's. I enjoyed the lack of sibilance with the LCD-2's and enjoyed the bass a lot but the magical soundstage was missing. I...- davidgotsa

Better Sound Or Just Louder Sound?
Everyone has different definitions in this hobby, but in my book, bright and warm are basically opposites. What do you mean by warmer and brighter? Quote:- davidgotsa

Yamaha PRO Headphones.
I must have listened to a defective pair then. I went back and forth between these and my EPH-100, which are far from bass light, and the Pros were very clearly taking away from the mids in all the songs I tried. You are obviously right about not being too quick to judge and that's why...- davidgotsa

Yamaha PRO Headphones.
Got a chance to get a quick listen to these yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised but there was a little bit too much bass for me to fully enjoy them. The bass was just drowning other frequencies out quite clearly.- davidgotsa

Senn HD650 Problem - Buzzing with amp, not buzzing with only iPod
Are you plugging the amp into a grounded outlet? Try moving the amp around your house to different ones to see what happens. I also had that problem for a while before I realized what was going on.- davidgotsa

That's weird. Did you have really bass-heavy headphones before you got these? Get used to the sound for a few days and see if you still like them or not. They might just not be for you. Quote:- davidgotsa

Yamaha EPH-100
Sad to say mine have failed. I loved them so much and used them all the time but suddenly one side just wouldn't work anymore. They're currently being repaired at Yamaha. I liked them so much I went and bought a second pair while waiting for my first pair to come back though, but my dog at them...- davidgotsa

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
Won't say that no one else has had this problem because I have no idea. I haven't had it though. Call Sennheiser or where you bought them from and tell them about it. At that price, nothing but perfection is acceptable. Quote:- davidgotsa
