Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I've been listening to jamming jazz since it was on XM back in the early 2000's. It's now online at Mixcloud. Leans more towards the improv side thus the jamming... eclectic mix https://www.mixcloud.com/Jammin_Jazz/ From the website: From XM Radio to WDCB to KBEM... A long time of turning...

Gustard U12 USB Interface 8 Core XMOS chip

I think my power supply died in my Gustard U12. I have a dead screen with no signal out. I opened it up but didn't see a fuse. Has anyone experienced this? It had worked flawlessly for 7 years with great audio results outputting AES to my Yggdrasil.

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

Does anyone have any comparisons of using the AES vs Unison USB? My Gustard U12 died and I'm wondering if I should replace it or just upgrade to Unison. OG A1. I never sent it in to replace the bad BNC and then the USB socket somehow got pushed into the unit. AES input was heavenly and that...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

It might be a good time for the Urd... This launch comes following analysis from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which reported that in 2021, shipments of compact discs rose for the first time in 17 years – the first time CD sales were on the increase since 2004...

I haven't researched sonicators for vinyl cleaning but I'd think if within budget, it probably makes sense as different particle and groove sizes would react differently. We had a cleaning solution for glassware, but unless there is fingerprint grime, spillage or mold I'd not think it is...

I used to work in an analytical lab. We used heavy duty ultrasonic baths to extract heavy metals from samples for analysis. We all cleaned jewelry and I did clean a few records back in the day. I had to lay them down as we didn't have a wheel or rotator, but I could stand it up in the smaller...

    Schiit Folkvangr - Impressions Thread

I'm curious if a Modi will fit on top where the logo is on the FV. Eyeballing it I sort of think so. Modi is 5" wide and FV is 16" but the recessed section with the tubes leaves at least 5" clear, right? I have a weird use case where this may matter.

I saw Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies show at the Hollywood Bowl while I was a sophomore in high school. A few years later my friends and I were at Poinsettia Park near Fairfax High playing a pickup softball game, one of our summer rituals back in those days, and someone said "hey that's...

Does live music truly sound better?

If the question is "Can one record a live performance so that playing it back is better than listening live?" I would say that as far as fidelity goes, it can be nearly equal with a competent recording AND playback setup. It might even pass for the real thing. But nearly is not equal. Lol. IMO...

    ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship

I used to listen to a British rock station in the nineties and they played Piano Lessons by Porcupine Tree. I was hooked. Big fan of Steven Wilson's stuff including his remixes of other classic rock artists like Yes and Tull. That song was on the album Stupid Dream. Very accessible prog-rock.

No tourism on Midway though, but there is always London* or Poland* And we can get some birdwatching and surfing in with the BBQ. Shame Paris* is in ruins. * On Kiritimati. The only country to stradle all four hemispheres, can't be more neutral than there.
