Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A
FWIW, I had a spare Parasound 5250 sitting idle that I hooked up to the interface box and was pleasantly surprised with the sound. It opened up the soundstage and gave the overall sound more weight. Mids were definitely more weighty than with the other amp with less power (105W). That amp has...- omairster

Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A
Has anyone tried to pair the SR1a with either the Schiit Vidar or Aegis? If I go by the recommendations from Raal I would assume that the Aegis especially would be underpowered but I am also reading that some users here have had success with amps that aren't all that beefy in pure power output...- omairster

Yup, aware of the fact that the iesl is just an Energizer and will be required in addition to the HSA1b or another amp. I looked into the iESL but opted for the Woo Wes - bought it from one of the folks here actually. That amp drives the SR007 beautifully but sounds a little too smooth for my...- omairster

Wow. I wasn't thinking of the HSA-1b as a do all amp. This is excellent insight. I see a set of SR007 there. How well does it drive those? I have found them hard to drive on Stax's own lesser amps.- omairster

I second your comment re: the HD 600. Those cans clamp very hard and I cannot wear them for a period greater than a few minutes. In fact I may just my HD6xx for sale soon. I will continue to play with the SR1a and hope I can find a comfortable position.- omairster

Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A
Just to be clear, we are comparing a $800 device against a $4000 unit. I would surely hope it was better. Yes, the law of diminishing returns is probably in full force here (and at this price point), but still we are talking 5x the price. I am using my unit with a speaker amp already at the...- omairster

Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A
Just got my SR1a and although I love a lot of things about it, absolute comfort won't be one of them. I feel that I'm always fiddling with the wings. For those of us who have been using these for a while, was there a comfort break-in period?- omairster

Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A
Thanks for your input. This is really helpful. Based on what you mention, I may run this via my Anthem PVA7 (105 W/ch) or Statement (225 W/ch) but just saw that the interface has a max input of 150W. The PVA would be okay but I’m assuming the Statement would be too much for the interface. Any...- omairster

Question for the group here, especially with some folks having had issues with the jotunheim R, given the option to buy the SR1a with the interface box or the Jotunheim, which option would you pick? Also, how good is the jotunheim truly? If Schiit (and some reviews) is to be believed, the...- omairster

Just to be clear, I was referring to treble hotness similar to what Magnepans may exhibit depending on the placement one may choose to use for those speakers. Nevertheless, thanks for the input. I may check these out sometime soon.- omairster

Has anyone had issues with ears getting “hot” after long listening sessions? Ribbon speakers tend to sound hot and was wondering if the issue is the same for these.- omairster
