The issue is probably limited to Wavelight only. I had the Wavedream with Stellaris balanced and both SE and XLR sounded the same i.e. no bloating/distortion etc. I did SE->SE, XLR->XLR, XLR->SE with 3rd party transformer etc.

For sale a pair of rare C3Gs Siemens tubes. These were specially selected for better specs than the normal C3g and marked with an S on the tubes. I bought them NOS from Germany a few years ago and used them for about a hundred hours, not an issue for a over 10K hours tube. They sound great...
