The Ear Pads Thread (post questions or say what ear pads worked for you)
Quote: On that note, if you can find the rough size (width x height) of the base of your earphones, you can buy any pads that are roughly the same size. Earpads are made to stretch to begin with, (Even videos from the manufactures say to stretch beforehand) and with a little luck, you can...- zantaff

Another quick question: Are these valour earpads, or some cheap knockoff? The description says "pleather" but I find that hard to believe.- zantaff

The Ear Pads Thread (post questions or say what ear pads worked for you)
I know that the Sennheiser HD280 pads work for the Sony MDR-V6, but just barely (and vice versa). You just have to stretch them a bit. I just did this and I like the stock pads for 280's better after I put them on the V6. BTW, what's the basic difference between Leather, Pleather, and...- zantaff

Hello. I'm looking for some IEM in ear headphones that can break. Why do I need them to break? Well, I don't WANT them to break, but they inevitably do, because I am rough with my earbuds. Right now I have a pair of Skullcandy earbuds that actually got the right side ripped off. ...- zantaff

I need some IEM in-ear headphones that I can break.
Why do I need them to break? Because I am rough with my earbuds and I always seem to kill one side of the set. Right now I have a pair of Skullcandy earbuds that actually got the right side ripped off. I'm looking for some very inexpensive (but not cheap, mind you) in-ear headphones /...- zantaff

Good Equalizer For Macs!
I think I've found a very simple, very nice program for Mac users that let them change the EQ on their whole system with just a few clicks, and also get down to fine tuning the audio. The program's called "Hear". Download It's universal, and runs without needing to start up sound...- zantaff

Should I even consider buying an amp?
I just purchased a pair of MDR V6s as well as a pair of Sennheiser HD 280s. I was looking at also buying an amp and thought that the FiiO E6 looked like a good deal. Should I even bother buying an amp for these headphones? They both already drive very easily, and I'm not sure how much...- zantaff

Awesome Audio Test - Song List / Mix
I did a quick search, and was surprised that I could not find a thread that offered Ideas for an Audio Text Mix, be it for Headphones, Speakers, or whatnot. Here's a list of what I'd use as a test mix. The Sound of Silence ~Simon & Garfunkel [start off with purity. everything...- zantaff

Optimizing Settings for iTunes
I'm a fairly new Hi-Fier and am starting to feel the need for higher quality sound. iTunes has a bunch of settings: AAC, AIFF, Lossless, & WAV settings with optional VBR as well as adjustable Stereo Bit Rates & Sample Rates. I've read this, and skimmed over this. From the looks of it...- zantaff

Is this a brilliant, bad or HORRIBLE idea??!?!
I'm interested in buying a pair of sub $150 headphones. Now, I'm not really asking for opinions on the headphones, per-se (but you can leave yours). It's come to these choices. Audio Technica ATH-M50 ~ $110 KRK KNS-8400 ~ $100 Sony MDR-V6 ~ $60 Sennheiser HD 280 ~ $70 ...- zantaff

Completely new to Amps. Are they actually worth it?
Quote: Amazing. This made me laugh out loud. RAMEN IT IS! I don't think I really need this bed of mine. What's this candy setup you have? Sounds interesting (and expensive). (Also, is your avatar from an anime or something? It looks familiar...)- zantaff

Have I found the best Monitor headphones for $100 or less?!
Quote: Appreciate it. I'm definitely thinking of getting my setup to be Sony V6's -or- Sennheiser HD280's. With a FiiA E5 amp, and the new pads. Seems like a manageable sub $100 setup for a newbie :)- zantaff

Detachable vs Fixed headphone cables
Detachable seems the way to go it seems. You can easily replace a cable, have options, and it acts like a break-away if you get too excited. I'm no expert, but the only pro to fixed cables seems that they DON'T pop out, which could be annoying. Your thoughts?- zantaff

Have I found the best Monitor headphones for $100 or less?!
Also, do the Velour pads help with isolation? Because that's one thing I'm worrying about the V6. OK. The cards on the table are now: the V6 -or- HD280. Also a FiiA E5 and new pads, if they are worth it.- zantaff

FiiO E6... A clone of my Magical E5?
Quote: This is gonna be my first amp, actually. I'll go for the E5 since it's a bit less expensive, as well as less likely to fall off my pants, or get pulverized. -

FiiO E6... A clone of my Magical E5?
I've been looking at them as well. The problem I think I may have with the E6 is the clip. If I travel around a lot, it looks like it will break, or jiggle loose as im going around. Keeping portability/pocket use in mind how does the E5 compare?
