Kaldas Research INOX: The World's First Consumer Closed-Back Electrostatic Headphone

I’m excited to hear what the INOX has to offer. I’ve listening to an RR1 on a high quality amp and DAC, and I own the Cal.1H, so I know Kaldas’ tuning is right in the money for those of us who enjoy the Harman Target Curve.

Altiat CAL.1H — Official Discussion & Impressions Thread

It was actually a one-off color I had commissioned, it's not a standard color. I'd recommending contacting Altiat to see if they could accommodate you.

Altiat CAL.1H — Official Discussion & Impressions Thread

Cal.1H owner here. For me, this headphone is a natural step up from the HD650, if you are interested in a warm, bassy but detailed headphone. I use mine on the Schiit Magni Heresy, and I get great performance at low gain. The ease of driving these headphones makes them a great open back choice...

Review by 'bpandbass' on item 'QCY Audio QY25 Plus'

BACKGROUND Ever since the introduction of the 3.5mm headphone-jack-omitted iPhone 7 in 2016, along with the subsequent release of competing smartphones following suit, the market for affordable bluetooth earphones has grown substantially. I originally dismissed bluetooth earphones and...

iPhone 7 Compressed Sound on Chord Mojo?

Oh I see. The A1619 is the one with the lightning connector. I use the A1440 because it fits into the USB module on the Mojo.

I'm not exactly sure about which model of CCK I use, but the model number is A1440.

Review by 'bpandbass' on item 'Smartomi MOTTO'

DISCLAIMER: This is a unit that Smartomi sent to me to review. Design The MOTTO are wireless Bluetooth earphones that have a dongle on the end, attached to two-foot cables that terminate to an inner-ear-outer-ear earbud. The earbud design is somewhat reminiscent to Sony earphones, and has a...

Review by 'bpandbass' on item 'Smartomi WIT'

Design The WIT is not a hugely revolutionary design, but is solidly made. The body of the earpieces is a satin plastic finish, and the back decorative plates are made from brushed aluminum. The cable is soft coated, with a plastic remote dongle with satisfyingly tactile large silicon buttons...

My Thoughts: Why are the Sennheiser HD600 and HD650 Still so Popular?

When the Sennheiser HD600 and HD650 came out in 1996 (I think) and 2003, respectively, they were on top of the game. Ergonomic, great-sounding headphones in a comparatively nascent consumer audiophile headphones market. Needless to say, since the 2010s, the market has absolutely exploded, and...

iPhone 7 Compressed Sound on Chord Mojo?

Here is a bit of a mystery. I use my Chord Mojo plugged into my iPhone 7 via USB cable and CCK lightning adaptor. I notice that every time I listen to my headphones this way, everything seems dull and compressed. The bass is sucked out, the treble is dull, and the soundstage and image seem...

Review by 'bpandbass' on item 'beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO'

Introduction To preface this review, I have owned a number of headphones prior to buying the DT1990 Pros. I owned Beyers including the DT990 Pro, the DT880 Pro, and the DT150 Pro. I also owned the Sennheiser HD580 and HD650, and until recently, I was a huge fan of AKGs, having the K702 65th...

Astell and Kern Kann Digital Out and iOS Device Compatibility?

Hey folks, I wanted to ask something knowledgeable within this community who may be able to help me with a question I had about potentially buying the Astell and Kern Kann to use as my portable rig with my full-size headphones. I currently use the Chord Mojo with my iPhone 7, and I was looking...

Professional vs Home: Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro vs Beyerdynamic Amiron Home

Great review. Between the two, I'm definitely going to get the DT1990. Just have to make sure it is the right replacement for my Nighthawk and K712 Pro.

Chord Mojo vs. OPPO HA-2SE Comparison Review

I'm not sure about the Pico's amp section, but the Mojo will likely be more powerful than it. As for the DAC, no doubt the Mojo's DAC will be better. It's the most advanced DAC that you will find in a device like this for under 1000 dollars.    The Mojo just has less little goodies like...

Review by 'bpandbass' on item 'Chord Electronics Mojo'

Putting the Mojo into Perspective:   The Mojo competes more with high-end portable DAC/amps like the Centrance HIfi-M8, the Cypher Labs Theorem 720 (now discontinued), and the considerably more expensive Sony PHA-3. So when considering those competitor prices, the 600 dollar MSRP of the Mojo...

Chord Mojo vs. OPPO HA-2SE Comparison Review

*RF Interference noise. The HA-2SE did not exhibit this same interference problem while being connected with a different MFI-certified cable. But by no means is this a problem exclusive to Mojo. But it does affect the users' abilities stream music services over the internet while using the Mojo...

Chord Mojo vs. OPPO HA-2SE Comparison Review

I'm only giving my own opinion, and you know what people think about others' opinions. I do find the humor in my statement that people would go with the better value model on this site, though. We are chasing the magic dragon after all.

Chord Mojo vs. OPPO HA-2SE Comparison Review

Correction done. Thank you for bringing issue this up. I think that was a major oversight for Chord to not remedy that USB noise issue. To me the iOS integration doesn't feel as well implemented as the OPPO's does.
