    Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC

Bit of a revelation today, I've recently added the Singxer SU-1 to the HOLO Spring L3. I've been using a few HDMI cables with the unit. I have tried a few different HDMI and I can't believe how much difference the sound actually make from different cables. Ranging from 0.5m to 3m, it is quite...

How do you set the buffer size? I am using Windows 10. I see there is a buffer setting at the Singxer SU-1 app in the icon tray

Anyone getting the white noise issue from Singxer SU-1 unit? Only happens for DSD upsampling via JRiver. It just outputs loud white noise over the top of the music. This is via the I2S connection Currently using the latest firmware (2.22) and driver (3.60)

Thanks for the offer, but I have one coming already.

    Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC

I tried the Hugo 2 directly to my headphone and via amp. I prefer to have the amp in the chain as I find it adds a bit more body to the music. I am currently using JRiver upscaling to DSD512 too and quite like that (although you do need to turn the volume up a bit with DSD upscaling). I have no...

    Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC

After trying out the HOLO Spring L3, It is very impressive. Recently coming from the Chord Hugo 2, I find the Spring L3 is head and shoulder above the Hugo 2. The sound stage has so much more depth, bass is stronger and more defined, lots of details, little bit warmer sounding than the Hugo2...

    Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC

I am interested in getting the HOLO audio L3 with the Singxer SU-1 for the I2S output. With cabling do you just use a normal HDMI cable or does it have to be a special cable?

Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

Yeah, more a DAC to DAC comparison. I dont think there's a transportable DAC/AMP out there that can rival the HUGO2 at the moment.

I see that you also have the HOLO audio L3, I was looking into that for my desktop setup. How would you compare it to the Hugo 2?

Absolutely, I think you hit the nail on the head. If we are mastering records, no doubt you'll want to be as close to 100% as possible. But as music lover, we just want to listen to what we think is good, not necessary what is technically more correct. Thats the good thing about the Hugo 2, it...

I totally agree with you. At the end of the day, it is what you ENJOY listening to. Nothing wrong with liking distortion if it still sound good to your ears. High quality tube amps are great example of that, they not the best in terms of specs but damn they sound fantastic and addictive.

Thanks for your professional insight Rob. I got to agree that Mr SPeakers Aeon closed (currently my work hp) is exceptionally good considering the price and pair very well with Chord products.

Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

I think the Hugo 2 is a fine amp/dac, but it does have its limitation in the power delivery especially on more demanding planar magnetic headphones. The 'highlighting' of details are what the more powerful amp can do and present it more "obvious" to the listener. The signal is of course is...

Violectric (v200, v281) seem to have a strong mid range with sufficient dynamic to give you a smooth warmish sound without the need to go into tube. I agree with Todd R, the Taurus is quite neutral. Although it also depends on your DAC and cables.

Yes, the Audeze do have a lot more / stronger bass response than the HE1000. The warmer sound signature of Audeze would complement very well with the Hugo 2.

I wouldn't call the added bass as flabby, far from it. It just makes the bass a lot more presence than it is without the amp. Everyone has their own preference in sound signature. For me I wouldn't mind the HUGO to have more bass/body for my taste, so adding in the amp fixed it for my case. So...

Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

I know there are people here who dont believe the additional amp philosophy for the Hugo. However, in my case I've found the additional amp helped me in adding a bit of body and bass to the sound signature. The Hugo 2 by itself is quite amazing considering the price. I used to own the Chord TT...

    Official HIFIMAN HE1000 Impressions Thread

I've always been a fan of the HE1000. Both V1 and V2 have its pros/cons. Currently used V2 and quite happy with it, I don't agree with the statement people claiming the Utopia is much better, just different sound. I used to own the Chord TT for a little bit, I currently own the Hugo 2 and I...

I had the cayin iha6 and the violectric v281. Both paired up very well with the he1000v2. Great all rounder for all genre of music.

I dont think tube will solve the issue. The he1000 signature is more a rounded sound from bass to treble. Where as audeze lcd series probably have the strongest bass response compared to the competitors, but they lack the treble sparkles. Very different sound, depends on personal taste.

That is correct, they also made it a bit lighter. The sound signature between v1 and v2 is slightly diff. V2 definitely more vivid and tighter bass.

I had the he1000v1 for well over a year, it was my favourite headphone by far as it is a great all rounder, you can put any genre of musics and it will sound good. Very comfy so i can listen to it for hours without any issues. Recently i upgraded to he1000v2 to see what the fuss is about. I...

Yep, it already been replaced by the Edition 6. Which is $6000 RRP. I am starting to question if they've hired some crazy dude at HFM to set the prices for the upcoming headphones.
