Campfire Audio Equinox Custom IEM - Beta

I'm not sure, but I'm having a similar existential crises as you. I ordered the Atlas back in May, and I love it... BUT the bore is a bit painful to my eardrums and I just can't ever get this things to sit comfortably in my small ears. I tried the Andromedas but they were just too big and...

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas

I use Comets along with the Westone Bluetooth dongle as my 5x5 gym companion and twice weekly mountain biking earbuds. They're great! They sound deep and rich and give my workout tracks enough body but also have some fair bit of sparkle up top. I wear them down rather than over ear. My only...

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas

Thanks for making a great product! I've been eyeing your lineup for years ever since I listened to a pair of Andromeda's at a shop in Seoul. Loved the sound of the Vegas when I heard them last summer. I'm glad I took the leap to these. These don't disappoint, and I'm looking forward to the...

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas

Well, my Atlases arrived this afternoon. I was very hesitant to purchase these. I'm a lowly grad student in the humanities, and am selling pretty much my entire collection of equipment (plus a Nintendo Switch) to finance this purchase. I've spent the past hour procrastinating on a seminar...

    Shure rmce-bt1 (Bluetooth Communications Cable)

I can't say with any certainty as I've never used either for more than 6-8 hours. I think the Shure seems to be rated for more hours, and I'd believe it based upon the larger size of the battery pack on the Shure cable. Westone seems to have split it into 2 smaller parts. I can't imagine the...

    Shure rmce-bt1 (Bluetooth Communications Cable)

I wanted to echo what a few others have said. I bought the Shure Bluetooth cable for my SE846s, and when pairing with my iPhone these things were WAY too loud. I could only go one or two from the very bottom without discomfort. Frankly, I actually think I might have damaged my hearing a...

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

Very interesting! I'll give the 1770 pads an order and see.

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

No, I did not put the foam covers over the driver. I don't believe the T1s have the foam over them so I decided against it. Should I try it with them over it?

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

I've recently installed the T1 black velour pads on my new T5P gen 2 and I prefer the T1 pad sound to the stock T5P pleather pads. As for the major differences, the two most prominent are the tamping down of the bass, and what I believe to be the broadening of the soundstage. Basically, I...

    The Official 2017 SF Head-Fi Meet - August 19 - DoubleTree SFO

I am planning to attend and my wife is also looking forward to her first headphone meeting.

    Win a SUSVARA

Simply put: I'm extremely skeptical that any headphone could be worth this price, but I'm also willing to be proven wrong.

    Nobunaga labs cables

You're welcome.  I, too, really liked the feeling of the premium cable, if it's indeed the same one we're talking about.  Kind of a silver color, braided but heat-wrapped, and very thin and flat.  Unfortunately, since there's no strain relief near the headphone connector, after a few months the...

    Nobunaga labs cables

I'm in Seoul, and my local headphone shop stocks several Nobunaga Labs cables.  Over the past year I have bought 3 pairs of the Nobunaga MMCX cables for my Shure SE846s, a $30 cable, a $60 cable, and a $99 cable.  All three have died within a few months under standard use.  The weak points are...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

I think the blue SE846s look stunning.  There's almost a faint glimmer of purple underneath.  It doesn't photograph well, but if I didn't already have the clear ones I would buy the blue color.  Bronze also looked nice, and black was just a good, deep black, but nothing terribly special.  My...

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Thanks for your feedback.  I've got the SE846s and I'm saving up for the K10 customs now.  I've had a chance to demo the K10U and was really impressed, but obviously I'm looking for something with a lot of isolation.  I've never used CIEMs.  Would you say the isolation is even better than the...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

I ordered some SpinFit tips from Jaben in Singapore (I live in South Korea) and I have to say, I'm quite pleased with these. I commute to work on public transporation, live in a big noisey apartment, and for isolation I've long preferred the stock black olive tips over anything else, Westone /...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

P To my ears, the black olives (large size) has always sounded the best for the simple reason that they get the best seal and isolate so much of the outside world.  I've tried a lot of different tips, from Westone to silicon, but I always end out going back to the large size black olives...

Luxury and Precision - Crowdfunding Promotion on the L3 Digital Music Player, Available Soon!

Yeah, convenience is the biggest hill to climb / hump to get over.  I get that on a technical level it's going to be superior to a Fiio X5ii, but if it can't compete with my iPhone on ease of use and services, it's never going to replace it... or compliment it.  I'm happy to pony down a fair...

Luxury and Precision - Crowdfunding Promotion on the L3 Digital Music Player, Available Soon!

Looks great, but if I can't connect to streaming services such as Tidal or Spotify I can't commit.  I know it's not that important to the serious audiophiles, but it's one of the main reasons I ended out dumping my Fiio X5 and have held of on the AK series DAPs.  It's 2016, such features should...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

Yeah, sounds about the same. I thought it was a cable issue but it wasn't. Turns out it's about $400 to replace the right earbud. Since the warranty ended on 1/24 and its 2/1 the Seoul service center wouldn't waive it. Bummer. I should have contacted them earlier instead of buying a cable...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

Well, it finally happened. My headphone curse has relocated to my SE846s. A year and a few days after I purchased them I put them in this afternoon and noticed I wasn't getting any sound from my right earbud. Since my cable is a Nobunaga memory wire cable I adjusted it, took it out, and tried a...

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

That was my experience as well.  I tried out a pair of EL-8 opens last week and the sound was a significant upgrade on the PM-3s.  Aside from the design, which I didn't care for, I was really impressed with the EL-8 opens, even from my iPhone.  That said, I agree: totally different use situations.

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

The blue really does need to be seen in person.  It's quite eye catching and has an almost chameleon-like effect where it seems to shimmer.  I don't know what to call it, but it reminds me of the paint job you'd find on a really high end Italian car.

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

Interesting!  I've never heard of these but I'll check them out.  My favorite tips are the large size (3 dot) black olives that Shure sells.  I've tried other brands, even tried modding them, but the seal on the Shure brand black olives just fits my eardrums better than anything else.
