Has anyone tried using ZX 100 as digital transport? I have been meaning to try to connect it to my Cypher Labs -dB, but getting hold of the custom cable is a pain in the ass. I just want to see if there'll be any improvement in the sound so that i can plug it into my speakers at work place.

I tried it with AK240, AK 120, and ICH (ipod - clas - hugo). Hugo comes in front in almost every aspect compared to the others. AK 240 has enough power but not the technical engineering to push the 8 drivers to their utmost potential

Try to use different DAP, i tried my V8 to pair with DX 90 and it sounded so muddy that i thought this is a 300 dollars piece. When when i use a highler level DAP, everything changed. The bass wasn't overwhelming, every range was clear and beautifully done

I had tried using X5 and DX 90 to Hugo, both of them sounded congested and blandly densed compared to CLAS -db to Hugo.

 

Finally got mine! Initial impressions would be high +, mid +-. low +++++. I don't know they do it, but this is my favorite UIEM in producing low regions of music, even bested my AKR 03 IMO.   God, gotta go listen more. The comfort is also out of this world 

This is a very different device from AK240. Every DAP has their own sound, there aren't two DAPs that sounds the same. Most of them have their own colors.   You can just buy a NAD 7050. A very good devide that has DAC and AMP, with wireless functionality too.

The signal produced by the DAP does. The cleaner the signal, the better Hugo will process it.

For anyone that's looking for to carrt Hugo on the go, i have found the Alo Amp Bag is completely usable. I am currently using Ipod - clas-db - hugo with diy cables. Has anyone been able to compare the sq frpm these four? 1. Ipod - clas-db - hugo 2. Zx 1 - hugo 3. Dx 90 - hugo 4. Ak 120 - hugo

Yes they do, to pair with AK 240. It does gives em more staging, but it lacks the power from the likes of Hugo. AK 240 + Mass Kobo 395 comes close to Hugo performance though
