No, you don't need a driver but you should try to install pulseaudio.

Thanks for the info, I thougth about buying the original pads too, but as you mention, they are a pit price for me at the moment (131 euros). The drivers are 66 euros one unit, so about the same price point as the pads  

In the forum are some solutions with the ear cup depth problem. I have some rubber tubing under the ear pads, some people do 1 piece of high grade tissue on each side. See post #1768 , some take replacement pads from other headphones or do some fabric in the ear cups to make them more...

Did this crackling noises only come up when you change volume or part of the song or did it appear it also if you play the song with out anything? By me if I play youtube videos and change the volum there it cracks somtimes too, so I wouldn't be so worried.
