I bit of an over reaction, IMHO. The whole deal looked very fishy from the start. If the vendor had 1000 positive reviews, I would say there's an issue, but this looked like a scam from the start. Stick to well reviewed merchants and you should be OK.

It's not in stock on the web site often, but you can usually call them. Since Sennheiser's Audio division got purchased, maybe they don't have an on-line store anymore. for the most part, dust falls down (due to something the scientists call gravity - which I cannot see, therefore it probably doesn't exist). Just cover the whole headset when not using it.

it's a good idea to cover the headset so dust doesn't get into it. This is particular problem with these headphones. I use a hair cap from a hotel I picked up on a trip. A hand towel or anything that covers the headset will do.
