RØDE NTH-100 (new studio headphones)
Well, that's an insta-buy for me. The SRH1840s are the most neutral headphone I've ever heard/mixed on except for 100hz and below where they were so quiet as to be unusable for me.- Gammon2004

AirPods Max
Sitting here listening to them as I type this. Quick background for me - professional audio engineer for the past 15 years, I've cycled through most of the well-known high-end headphones at various points. I also ended up selling most of them and just using my previous airpods because I'm lazy...- Gammon2004

AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone
I received the insert kit a few days ago. I've had the black foam in mine almost since I got them. Oddly, going through all of the options over the past few days has given me more appreciation for how much I like them without any inserts in at all, though I'll have to see what I think after...- Gammon2004

Focal Listen Impressions and Review
I really quite like the sound of mine - unfortunately I have huge ears, and the ear cups, while *monumentally* more comfortable than the Focal Spirit Pro pair I used to have, are still just a tad small for my ridiculous ears. So I'm going to put mine on the classifieds - let me know if anyone...- Gammon2004

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Sorry if this has been discussed on other threads, but I tried the 598 Cs from the Black Friday deal and thought they were just terrible, They don't sound anything like my regular open 598s at all. They just sounded like cheap midrangey headphones, I think my $20 Monoprice headphones are...- Gammon2004

Focal Listen Impressions and Review
I've been really happy with mine so far, had them for about a month. They're definitely more comfortable than the Spirit Pros for my big ears, though they still are a pretty uncomfortable headphone - now the problem is mostly that the headband on top isn't well-padded. But they sound great and...- Gammon2004

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
I'm not entirely sure what you're describing, but I know I was confused at first because the plugin was set to 'speaker' instead of 'headphone' - it's the little slider on the top right that toggles between those two modes. Maybe you're set on speaker mode?- Gammon2004

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
I'm finding this to be a really great tool used together with Audio Hijack so that it is applied to everything coming out of the computer. Does anyone know how to post a review of the Software on this site? I can't seem to find a page for it that might allow me to post the review. It doesn't...- Gammon2004

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
This is an excellent description of what I love about these headphones, too. I also agree that I never find myself wanting 'more detail' when I'm listening to them...possibly that's because I'm too busy enjoying the music.- Gammon2004

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
I really quite like the 598s soundstage - they're possibly the only pair of headphones I've used for mixing where I occasionally forget I have them on and think I'm listening to my speakers while I'm tweaking a reverb. I think that also speaks to their comfort level, btw.- Gammon2004

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
Yup, they've told me they're in the process of expanding the model list and more should be coming out soon. They also offer a service where you send them your headphones and they'll give you a custom calibration for those cans, which theoretically should be even more accurate than the 'average...- Gammon2004

Focal SPIRIT PROFESSIONAL Impressions thread
I had the Spirit One S for a month or two - the pads are noticeably bigger. This made them somewhat more comfortable for me, but my ears are still bigger than the inside of those newer pads, so eventually I had the same comfort issues...but I believe I saw a measurement posted on the Spirit One...- Gammon2004

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
HD800 have more details than any other headphone I've heard, but the presentation is too far away or disconnected or something...I think what I like about the HD598 (and Mad Dogs) is that the range from 100hz up to maybe 500hz or so is a bit more present - this is where the fundamentals of most...- Gammon2004

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
Just a quick tip - if you turn the entire plugin off (using the on-off slider at the top right) then yes, you'll hear the uncorrected signal a lot louder. But as long as you just turn the calibration off (using the power button on the bottom right), the volume levels will stay the same...- Gammon2004

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Agreed - I prefer these cans to most others I've heard, including HD 600 (not enough bass) and HD 800 (too bright, soundstage is too far away). Also, I just noticed in your signature that you have the HD598s and the Mr. Speakers Mad Dogs, which are exactly the two pairs I use most often. I...- Gammon2004

I thought that the HD600 was better for classical music - larger soundstage (not surprisingly), very clear-sounding. But the FSP is definitely more exciting to listen to and I prefer it for every genre other than classical.- Gammon2004

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread
Quick question - I have the Mad Dogs, and I also have the Emotiva Mini x amp, which I purchased to use for speakers but which is now free to use with these headphones...if I'm going to use the Emotiva, do I need to have the balanced version of the Mad Dogs? I don't really understand much about...- Gammon2004
