Finding good low budget headphone drivers on aliexpress
It looks like there are all sorts of DT770, some open, I just googled. Well then, if needed, try and identify the holes they've already provided in the cup and/or baffle and play with those too. Blu tack or something like that works. BTW, Digikey sells them as one piece, so for a pair you order...- Silvian

Finding good low budget headphone drivers on aliexpress
I'm not sure on the kind of advice you are after. I haven't played with that driver and never listened to a dt770. Digikey got the photo wrong but that's OK. The driver is suitable for both open (like the DT770) and closed design. The DT770 being open you probably don't need to do much, if...- Silvian

Finding good low budget headphone drivers on aliexpress
I tried these ones, and I like them: https://www.digikey.co.nz/products/en?keywords=%E2%80%8EHPD-40N16PET00-32-ND%E2%80%8E I have Grado 325e and other than using these drivers in a closed design, I didn't feel they are inferior in any way, that I could pick up, to the Grados. It appears that...- Silvian

Sony SA5000 - repair cable / y joint
If you are already handy with the soldering iron, I assume you are also comfortable with connectors, screwdrivers and the likes. If so, just replace the entire cable. It is relatively easy and it is worth it. I have just taken them apart, again, because I want to try to install a 3.5mm socket...- Silvian

Panasonic RP-HD10 - A Serious Contender?
First of, on removing the driver: it is not glued. They used some sort of rubbery-plasicky stuff which can be very easily removed. Start by scratching it a little with a small screwdriver and once you have something to pull off, it will come out in no time. And you'll end up with a nice, clean...- Silvian

Panasonic RP-HD10 - A Serious Contender?
Hi guys, I haven't contributed to this thread in a long time but these Panasonic headphones remain one of my favorites. What I'd like to suggest to you is to try a smart EQ. What I mean by smart is something which does some of the work for you. If, for example, you own a Samsung Galaxy phone...- Silvian

It's got to stop!
Another factor, I think, is the lack of structure in this industry, and that would be hard to achieve, considering the very many variables still in play in audio. Let's compare the audio industry with the car industry which, while still varied enough, is a lot more mature: The more expensive...- Silvian

Hey again Elgrindio, Yesterday I discovered a new toy and I thought you might enjoy playing with it too: http://www.claessonedwards.com/home-audio/breakaway-audio-enhancer. Terms for describing sound and software for adjusting them
Hi everyone, Let me start with an observation: (there was supposed to be a photo with the forums' threads and views here, but it didn't upload - have a look for yourselves) We are overpowered by far by those interested in (only) hardware. I realize, of course, that some threads on the other...- Silvian

Creating examples of "Loudness Wars" effect
Hi Elgrindio, In case you're not aware, this website (http://dr.loudness-war.info/) has quite a lot of CDs with their DR levels. Based on this I went to my local library and borrowed a few in order to test (listen) and learn, and indeed, it is quite easy to hear the differences. Once you know...- Silvian

Where are the graphene headphones & speakers?!
Hey bigshot, for a start, I absolutely agree with the points you made in your signature. Actually only today I added a few similar pointers in mine. Regarding listening instead of looking at numbers, I think it would be worth adding some context - I hope you'll agree: knowing "how" to listen...- Silvian

Best Headphones for low volume listening?
Hi everyone, I also looked for such a thing: speakers and headphones that sound good at low volume levels. In all honesty, I actually gave up looking a while ago since everything I listened to had to be pushed up so that I understood the bass line, the lyrics, and all the rest - I thought it is...- Silvian

Grado Fan Club!
I understand your reluctance. I was the same when I had my previous 225. I tried a few things inspired by others in forums like this one and indeed, the sound was compromised. And of course Grado will have done their R&D, but, like with everything, they will have chosen a compromise. It goes...- Silvian
