@Onik - they are hand made in California, just outside San Jose.

@LeMoviedave - you won’t be disappointed. This the THE definitive amp for the HE1000se, IMHO. I’ve heard the headphone with 10 or 12 really good amps, at minimum, and none of them came close to the synergy I heard with the Dragon.

@LeMoviedave - I'm sure we can arrange something at some point. I'd say this is the best combo I've heard with the HEKse by a mile.

@Pharmaboy - I will measure it for you when I get home. It is pretty large - probably about as wide or slightly wider than my GOTL and twice as deep.

@FLTWS - I don't have a Susvara to test it with, but I would think it would be a great combo, given the transparency, blackness, dynamics and excellent attack/decay properties. These are things I would consider requirements for a Susvara amp, based on the combinations of gear I've heard with it...

@Onik Yes, as @LeMoviedave stated, the HE-6 is much harder to drive. I DID listen with the LCD-X though, and it was absolutely superb. Electronic music was especially satisfying with the combo because of the bass, attack, decay and dynamics.

@Monsterzero @Kevintj604 - Regarding the Aeolus, the Dragon absolutely made it sing. I rocked some acoustic stuff and the sound was extremely natural and transparent. The Dragon dug into a new layer of resolution I didn't even know the headphone had, and the Aeolus is one of my most frequently...

Review by 'Hansotek' on item 'Wells Audio Dragon'

Wells Audio’s Latest Entry is an Unheard-of Value and an Unbelievably Fun Listen. Wells Audio might not be the biggest name in the personal audio game, but they are unquestionably one of my favorite brands. My first experience with Wells came a few years ago when I reviewed the Abyss AB-1266. I...

    Wells Audio Dragon

The list of design criteria was long one for the new Wells Audio Dragon amplifiers. The goal was no less than to match the legendary performance levels of the Wells Milo and Headtrip solid state headphone amplifiers at even lower price points with the addition of the incorporation of the...

Wells Audio - Impressions & Questions

First impressions notes on the Dragon II I sent to Jeff after receiving the amp on Friday: Incredible. In-effin-credible. Tried w/ 3 headphones out the gate. Hifiman HE1000SE: probably the best I’ve heard it sound. Super impressive “massive” sound w/ orchestras & electronic. Immediately made...

Wells Audio - Impressions & Questions

Just received the Dragon Level II on Friday and I 1000% echo your comments on the HE1000SE. IMO, this was a very good and resolving headphone, but it also had a propensity to sound a bit disjointed at times. As best I could describe it, it came off a bit bright at times and it seemed like the...

    Sennheiser IE300 Review & Measurements

The Final E tips provide a fairly cohesive sound for the Sennheisers, but there's definitely a sense of veil, warmth and the stage is very congested. It not that that veil is necessarily a bad thing. If you're a fan of Audeze's classic sound, it might be right up your alley. I still think the...

    Sennheiser IE300 Review & Measurements

If you absolutely must have a single DD IEM, I'd say your best options for metal are: Low/Mid price: Periodic Beryllium High Price: Campfire Vega BUT only with a balanced cable and Azla SednaEarFit tips - otherwise you won't get the mid presence you want here. Any other configuration will be an...

    Sennheiser IE300 Review & Measurements

I will add the Azla SednaEarFit tips sounded pretty great on the IE 300 as an aftermarket option. Earfits give it a more balanced sound - widening the stage, Increasing separation, bringing out the treble and the upper mids. Still a bit V shaped, but gives a lot more life to the other frequencies.

    Sennheiser IE300 Review & Measurements

I agree, there’s really no excuse for this cable. I bumped it with the zipper on my shirt the other day and it was so loud, I blacked out for 20 minutes. All kidding aside, the fact that the cable is so bad and they built this recessed jack so it A.) doesn’t work with your existing cable...

Haha, no worries, that wasn’t a serious question, just a bunch of shwaggy weed puns. Grado’s marketing department started it! Though, I will say, you piqued my interest now.

Pre-Fazor is the way to go, if you want sweet low end. If you can get em, grab em. Also, yes, planars are generally easier to EQ than dynamics.
