The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
WM1Z NPAudio (v5) might still be better than WM1Z (kmod). Somehow I doubt that someone has both since they are rare and kmod not produced any more as far as I know. In case of a different owner comparison, it has to be the exact same fw and settings on both. Otherwise it is comparing apples and...- JSBachFan

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
I can contribute to this question, too. I own 4 WM1s of all types. - WM1A with NPAudio mod v3, - WM1A original, - WM1Z with kmod ultra and - WM1Z original. Lately I was playing around with the Walkman One settings. As I side effect, the players got compared, too. I would say that 1A mod vs. 1Z...- JSBachFan

Rank the best sounding daps that you heard
.... and - I mentioned that in my last ranking: My rating is always 90% about musicality (easy flow of music, foot tapping etc). Everybody has his very personal priorities when it comes to technicalities vs. musicality.- JSBachFan

Rank the best sounding daps that you heard
Correct. My ranking is based on IEMs only. TH900 is only used with Dragonfly.- JSBachFan

I used to be a big fan of K400 (see my former name) but then moved to TH900, which of course is a very different price area. So whoever wants to have a classic fun headphone, let me know. I did the balanced mod myself using a Sennheiser balanced 2.5mm plug. I used an original AKG K701 cable as...- JSBachFan

Campfire Audio - SuperMoon
Just a quick DIY trick, if you struggle with too slippery Nozzles where the Tip just doesn't want to stay. (like on Supermoon) I found tiny rubber bands at a dentist, where they are used to be applied on braces for slow pulling. In my case, they fit perfectly around the inside of the tip. The...- JSBachFan

After some time of absence because I didn't feel I have to contribute anything valuable here with my outdated equipment, I stumbled upon a link, that I would like to share. In the past, I struggled to describe a term that is used here pretty often, but seems to be very subjective. Musicality. I...- JSBachFan

I haven't tried the 16/24 bit comparison, but I would not be surprised finding your result. To my knowledge, no bad mathematical interpolations have to take place. Therefore I would expect the quality to be better or at least equal. Also on the musical level. Regarding 88.2 khz. I read somewhere...- JSBachFan

Around 1990 I sold my CD collection and went back to records. Bought a Linn LP12 record player and maintained it to the highest equipment level until I sold it 2017. Exactly for the reason, that it was so much more musical than any CD player I heard anywhere. But I kept an ear open for digital...- JSBachFan

I know, some will call me crazy, but I will post it anyways. Just have to, because I feel strongly about it: Could please some of you that also have the focus on musicality rather than on technicalities try the following: Find a song/piece that was recorded before 2000 and is now published in...- JSBachFan

You CAN improve your listening skills. It has recently been proven, that you can learn to listen. Of course some...- JSBachFan

Yes. In combination with the WM1Z I find it just perfect for classical music. It's engaging, the tonality seems just right to me and the stage is good enough to enjoy even big orchestra music in which I can still focus and even locate solo instruments playing ... if I want to. It is quite an...- JSBachFan
