Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Sol looks awesome, I can't wait for it to be available with a European motor. Jason, I'm curious why the counterweight on the tonearm is locked with a screw, as opposed to threading the counterweight and mounting so it can be adjusted via twisting? It seems like a much simpler way to get to the...- Tro95

So this begs the question: when are Gungnir and Yggdrasil going to move to this same model?- Tro95

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I'll preface this by saying I'm probably not your most targeted audience, but I thought I'd toss my two cents into the mix regardless. I bought my Mjolnir 2 purely off hearing how they sounded with my HE6s; a combination of the ability to drive them to good enough volumes and the really nice...- Tro95

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?
I've had my XM3s for a few days now using them to both commute and at work in an office environment. The ANC is generally very impressive, although it's definitely not foolproof. Something that's important to me is the sound/noise leakage, and thankfully I can listen to these at fairly high...- Tro95

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?
What's the noise leakage like? It's one thing to have great ANC so you cannot hear the surrounding world, but it's another thing entirely to be blasting loud music out into an open office and annoying all your co-workers.- Tro95

Schiit Gungnir DAC
I recently upgraded from a Bifrost 4490 & Valhalla 2 to Gumby and MJ2. I still run my HD650s in single-ended, and my HE-6s in both single-ended and balanced. I can say that other than the 6db volume difference, the single-ended outputs drive both cans as well as the balanced, and I cannot hear...- Tro95

$700(ish) DAC/Amp combo upgrade recommendations needed
As a proud owner of the HD650s and having used various Schiit stacks and other equipment, I must recommend the Bifrost/Valhalla 2 combination. I've tried the Jotunheim, but I think the Valhalla 2 is more ideal for the HD650s, even despite only being single-ended. Depending on how your budget...- Tro95

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?
I believe the student code only works on selected products, as opposed to everything. As a general rule of thumb, if the voucher code doesn't complain about not being valid but you don't receive any discount, it means the code has no effect on the product(s) currently in your cart.- Tro95

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
I really liked the pairing of the SE846s with the QP1R. I generally prefer a warm sound, but I ran with the white filters on the Shures to control the bass is bit more (it felt a bit too booming with the blues). I did try removing the foams from the blue filters, but I'm not that keen on...- Tro95

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I can reach medium volume levels with the dial anything between half and max. It's not ideal and most people would cringe, but the HE-6 came after the Valhalla 2 because I just had to have one, and I haven't had the opportunity to upgrade the amp yet. I use my HD650s on a much more regular basis...- Tro95

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Yeah I'd normally have considered gumby before mjol2, but the whole point of the upgrade is because I fell in love with the mjol2 pairing with my HE-6. To get gumby whilst saving for another 6 months to get mjol2 is a tease too far for me. Maybe I'll drop to a modi like you suggest, I still have...- Tro95

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I have a similar problem, in that I'm eyeing up an upgrade from Valhalla 2 and Bi4490st to a gumby and mjol2, but I likely can't make the leap in one go. The question is can I tolerate a bifrost + mjol2 whilst I save for a gumby... and I know I probably wouldn't last too long. On a completely...- Tro95

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Does the Mjolnir 2 produce more overall heat than the Valhalla 2? I currently have the latter, and whilst I'm not concerned about how hot the unit itself is, I find the room it's in gets rather warm after a couple of hours of usage, and I'm not sure I would want something that will make it even...- Tro95

Ahh thank you, it wasn't immediately obvious the 2 uses USB-C, especially as the product page makes no mention of it. I hope this will make charging a lot less frustrating.- Tro95

My main question is whether the QP2R is much easier to plug in via micro USB? Also, can we expect the QP1R to work with the docking station?- Tro95

2017 UK Head-Fi Meet (April 2nd @ Milton Keynes)
Anyone else planning on coming via train? Busing from the station to the venue involves a nice walk at either end, and seems to be around a 40-45 minute journey. Google suggests if leaving the station at 9:08 we can arrive for around 9:50. Buses appear to run every half hour after 8am.- Tro95

2017 UK Head-Fi Meet (April 2nd @ Milton Keynes)
I would be willing to sell my Shure SE846s with box and all the trimmings, fully working condition with a slightly discoloured cable. I would also be willing to depart with my beloved HE-6 (unmodded with a shiny toxic cable) if the price was right, but you may have a hard time talking me into...- Tro95
