That sounds very promising! Good to hear. The Beyers are so comfy, I'm imagining the X2s must be like clouds on your ears.

If I can get my hands on the X1 for cheap, I'm definitely going to try them out against my DT-990. I'll still wait for the X2 and give that an audition, but at depending on the timing it may be going up against its former self in the X1 (if the X1 dethrones my DT-990 for movie sound).

Combining headphones with a subwoofer is quite a notion. In my case it would ruin headphones as a solution to the problem of watching movies while the household sleeps. If everyone's awake, then I've got a 5.1 speaker setup ready to go.

Those Sonys look pretty nifty. I saw a comment that they lack bass, so it'd be a trade-off with soundstage. Too bad they're discontinued, as they are an interesting product.

I've just been reading about these and the X2. From what I've read, I would only want to buy the X2, but they do sound like great movie headphones (uber comfort, great bass, wide/tall/deep soundstage).
