    Another recommendation for a newbie.

I actually got some SR80e's for cheaper than the 60'S so ended up going for them. Still not fully burned in bur sound very good already with vinyl and digital. A bit bright. Which I was prepared for, buy not overly. I've also picked up a Project Head Box mkii which I'm not impressed with at all...

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

Contrary to advice elsewhere, I just bought some Grado SR80e's for a very resonable price with the intention of selling them on at a small loss (or if I'm lucky, break even!) if I don't like them or find that they don't suit my set up.  If it doesn't work out with them, I'll try the AKG K612. ...

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

Hey Shineonyou, how do you like the K612 whilst listening to vinyl?  How is the reproduction? Does the phone accentuate the imperfections/surface noise?

    Grado e Series

Hm.  That's just thrown a spanner into the works.  I guess that's the disadvantage of not being able to audition before hand.  Even if I could listen to them though, I doubt I'd get to listen to vinyl through them.  And even then, the set up wouldn't be the same as mine, so it wouldn't be a true...

    Grado e Series

Hey guys and gals, apologies if you've read my question on the 'recommendations' thread, but I'm looking for my first set of decent headphones and I'm being drawn to Grado's mainy due to the glowing reviews and the exciting, unique sound that is being waxed lyrical on here.  I recently tried the...

Ok, so I tried the DT990s.  To me they sounded fantastic.  Like I previously mentioned, I have nothing to compare them too so I didn't buy them right off.  I listened to Spotify via an external amp.  I tested tracks from, Dire Straits, Norah Jones, YES, James Blake, System of a Down, Damien...

Sound advice. I think the only other sets they have are Sennheisers and Shure's. Neither of which I'm interested in!

Looks like I'm going to be able to try some DT990 Pros tomorrow. I'm afraid I'm going to be so impressed having never heard any decent cans before that I'll buy them there and then. And then ultimately mässing out on the Grados and/or AKG's.

My next response was actually going to be " Ok, so after another full day of pretty much only reading threads on here, I've narrowed it down to either the Grado SR60e/SR80i or the AKG K612/K702.  The latest reply from Shaffer (thanks for that) has tipped the balance in favour of the AKG K612 (...

    AKG K7xx International Forwarding Service

That is a great service you're offering.  Do you have shipping costs to countries already worked out? If so, what about import charges?   Cheers.

Again, thanks for the replies and advice.  I've had a look at the K7XX.  Whilst they do indeed look and from what I've read, sound fantastic, they aren't as I initially thought available to me right now.  And shipping is only to US from Massdrop.   Like I said, I've almost bought the K702 on...

Wow, that's some glossary of terms!  I guess I'd be looking for a neutral, airy sound.  I'd like really good instrument separation and like I've mentioned, a wide soundstage.  I'm still leaning towards the AKG K612/701/702 but am just a bit concerned that they will be too revealing on the vinyl...

    Another recommendation for a newbie.

Firstly thanks for the reply. That's exactly the kind of information I was hoping to get. I'd not read about the possibility of the onkyo not being powerful enough to drive the akg or the Beyers. I'm definitely open to buying a dedicated headphone amp. Open headphones aren't a problem.I'll be...

Hey, Long time lurker, first time poster!  A topic that has been covered hundreds of time, but please bare with me!   I've decided that I want to take the plunge into mid/hifi headphone listening.  I currently own a pair of Sennheiser IE6 and Sennheiser HD202, but recently I've been listening...
