The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
I wonder if there is a mod to acoustically attenuate 3kHz region by approx 1dB, it's not a fault per se, but it's probably the only region that sticks out.- asymcon

 2000 hours of 8hr daily use seems fair for any kind of pads. Also I replaced them not because of wear, but due to the fact I managed to get a new pair for free. The feel was different on the new ones for sure, yet the old pair would keep going as usual- asymcon

roughly same sound here on all 3 pairs, same mods, first one sounded initially different after 2000 hours, but new pads fixed it- asymcon

Where are you based? I can make a straight cables, same way as I did for my 3 pairs of DT250, but I no longer have any spare connectors Pinout is available in service manual, or you can check it via DMM- asymcon

For me, Dt250-250 are amongst the easiest to drive HPs, so much so, that I use them even unamped straight from DAP/Audio interface- asymcon

Of course, they blossom with time :gs1000smile: 3 years in, 2500 hours, and still my most favourite pair of HPs, and I have tried many others, even several magnitudes more expensive.- asymcon

Bass till about 200Hz. There's a frequency response graph somewhere on the internet. You can also test through sine tones @50Hz- asymcon

Yes, this is what I do and it definitely helps. Next level would be to use plastic sealant on the tip of the screw.- asymcon

OK, then I would say there won't be any issues. It's the edge of the connector and sealed screw hole that creates the seal. Even with all 7 pins in place, there isn't a good seal, because springed contacts aren't particularly good at keeping vacuum :smile_phones: Just seal it the same way as 7...- asymcon

Channel imbalance? No. It'll either work fine, with both sides connected properly, or not work at all. Not sure how this 6pin connector looks like, but the pinout used to be listed in service manuals.- asymcon

Just when some of you weren't convinced that DT250 are the best HP. :o2smile: https://reference-audio-analyzer.pro/en/report/hp/beyerdynamic-dt-250-250.php Perfect immunity to variable output impedance (less than 1dB @ 300Ohm), or the near perfect conformity to ISO 226-2009 curve- asymcon

I'm still using the same cable, Van Damme Miniature, which means it must be good. I don't expect any sonic changes out of it, so I haven't heard any. But it's 10 times stronger when running a chair over it. It's definitely better than the stock one, which became stiff and hard just...- asymcon

Yes, the screw is essential for proper bass isolation in left channel. Put some electrical tape under it for better effect. Better still, put cellulose sponge on the pins of the connector to ensure proper seal.- asymcon

How do I convince people that audio cables DO NOT make a difference
I sort of assumed that, but decided to go on with the charade anyway :ok_hand: Actually good cables doesn't have to be expensive. Such as VD single pair for €1.3/metre. It's better to stick to "buy once, cry once" idea for cables (in instances where higher price actually mean quality), as...- asymcon

How do I convince people that audio cables DO NOT make a difference
Sorry I haven't read all 93 pages, but I disagree with the thread topic. Yes, they make a huge difference. Cheap PVC insulated stock AKG cable falls apart in a few years of indoor usage, but a PE+Neoprene composite as well as silicone holds up for years and years even in challenging conditions...- asymcon

Yes, with the sensitivity in the picture, it's much easier to make accurate estimates. 600Ohm at 105dB/mW is going to be actually louder than say 55Ohm at 88dB/mW, and those 55Ohm . As with DT-250, 250Ohm, their sensitivity is actually 100dB/mW, so a typical 0.5V source (phones, mp3 players)...- asymcon

Power is always a function of both impedance and sensitivity. :smile_phones: Actually higher impedance is easier to drive as the amp is loaded with much lesser current load.- asymcon

I thought about DT-29x as a backup pair for DT-250, but the mic has rather poor specs, and there's even higher chance that the left side will be unbalanced. Also the immense price difference. So I stayed with regular DT-250 and put a $2 DIY mic with retrofitted Primo capsule. Works wonders at...- asymcon

For over 1.5 years, DT-250 are my workhorse in and out of my home studio. Best pair I have ever had, actually now two pairs (one with leather pads, the other with velour). Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6
First and foremost, ogg is not an audio format. What you're referring to is actually called Vorbis. Ogg is a container, which may contain many datastreams. Therefore when a company say they support ogg format, without further clarification, they refer to Vorbis, yet at the same time ogg...- asymcon

I'm using only Opus on my Zip for over 3 years now. Can't think of one good reason why other manufacturers don't feel quite keen on implementing it. It's fully open-source, unlike AAC, and the only lossy fomat worth keeping. 99% of my portable collection is in 140kbps Opus.- asymcon
