AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
Spot on analysis. I bought a used pair for 400. (from here..well taken care of) and then a new pair for 300 maybe a year/two later. I've never opened the box yet. One of my best bang for the buck headphone.- Bern2

Cat-Fi
Great pix. I had one cat that absolutely LOVED to chew off the headphone plug. Actually was his only bad habit. Good thing I knew how to solder!- Bern2

help me decide on headphones
My advice is to go to a audio shop and try some with music you are familiar with. Only you know what you absolutely love and will put up with. For me they HAVE to be comfortable. If they are not...I won't reach for them. But go listen to multiple headphones and go from there. You said you...- Bern2

Bicycle-Fi!
With the criteria you provided, I would take a look at the Aventon Level 2. Comes in at 61 pounds and has a torque sensor. I have not personally test rode one. I have the Aventure, but that is more for dirt roads and trails. Post what you find, I'd like to get a pure commuter bike eventually.- Bern2

Sennheiser HD 630VB Review - First Impressions
Post your thoughts once you've had some time with them. They didn't have enough low end for me and they didn't handle EQ well at all in that area.- Bern2

Sennheiser HD820
Agree totally with you on this. It's not like you can swap out tubes and change your flavor. I have the HD800 and the Phonitor 2 as my main amp. I have been using Sonarworks to EQ the Senns...they handle it very well. I cannot listen to them if they are not EQ'd. What's ironic...is that I...- Bern2

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
The reason I got rid of the 600 was because of the low end. It just can't reproduce it to my liking. My only real complaint of it. Agree with all your rundown in regards to comfort...etc. Would have liked to seen the NightHawk developed further. When I moved, I had all headphones packed...- Bern2

You probably did this...but did you try the headphones on another amp? Maybe one channel of the amp went out and the drivers are still good.- Bern2

Sennheiser HD 630VB Review - First Impressions
I've never heard the HD800S....but IMO Sonarworks did wonders for the HD800. And the HD800 handles EQ very well. I see your point though. I used to own the HD600, and it is basically a flat response headphone to begin with. Sonarworks didn't really make a difference. That was another...- Bern2

Sennheiser HD 630VB Review - First Impressions
The AudioQuest NightHawk....I actually have 2 pair of those. The flagships are the Senn HD800, Sony MDR-Z1R, and the ZMF Aeolus. I use Sonarworks for the Senns. Bern- Bern2

Sennheiser HD 630VB Review - First Impressions
I sold mine to a gentleman here on the forums. I agree with you on the implementation,,,I just wish the crossover freq was a tad lower. They were not getting much use, so they ended up in the chopped pile. They are built like a tank. They did not handle low freq eq well as I would have liked...- Bern2

Here's what I ended up doing. Still working on the electrical for amps and computers. Leaving the cables hooked up so I'm not searching for them all the time. The lighting is poor...sorry. Gotta love that old wallpaper! (not really..it's going eventually).- Bern2

Why so many hd800 for sale if they're that good
My 2 cents. I use Sonarworks to EQ them..and they handle EQ very well. Without that I would not have kept them. With EQ..I think they sound great. Bern- Bern2

What Headphones Got You Hooked On Good Sound?
I worked as an engineer (video) on a music program. (Larry McCray did songs from his first album...I think before it was even released). Anyway....we hired the audio out as contract and the gentleman had Beyer 990 pros. While I wasn't a fan of his mix....I liked the sound of his headphones. I...- Bern2

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
I think I got it on sale for 79. I'm using ref 3 for the HD800. I too tried various EQ's without success. I always have meant to send in the Sony Z1R's...but haven't done it yet. Right now I'm in the middle of a move (God only knows where at this point...I'm at my sisters waiting everything...- Bern2

AudioQuest NightOwl - A closed-back NightHawk
I have the NightHawks (2 pair) and the adapter up to 1/4" is crappola. I would start there first with this problem. I ended up getting a HD700 Sennheiser cable from Ebay, but there's several cheaper options available. I would skip the adapter route personally. Bern- Bern2
