I think they sound great too, needed burn in though to open up.

    HD598 vs. HD650

I wouldn't say muffled, maybe recessed, or "full" sounding.
  6. Mattybumpkin

    I bought HD598's unimpressed

They need to burn in, 150 hours.

Rec'd my K7xx's today from the last drop, awaiting the Magni 2 I picked up on Sunday.  Looking forward to the combo, and comparing the 598SE's to the K7xx's.

Thanks for the input on the bass, been curious about it.   Also, how is the treble on them?  Extended, harsh, smooth, etc.   Thanks,

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Well,   I guess I just have to "jump in" and start doing some comparisons; 598's, K7xx, 400s, etc.   Thank you for the insights, they sound like they may be what I am looking for.   Regards,   Matty

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Hi everyone,   looking for some input if I could.  How would the 598's be with blues (Cray, McClain, BB, Clapton, etc. with rthymn bass) as well as with acoustics/vocals (Jackson Brown, James Taylor, Dido, Nora)?   I am trying to decide between these and the K7xx.   I would be running them...

Regarding the tubes,   It's just what I have in my system to use.  My CD player is tubed, but I plan on buying a SS headphone amp (Magni, etc.) to use for listening through hp's.

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Wow,   Thanks for the feedback.  To be honest, I wasn't expecting the nod for the HD598's for me, given the subject of this thread (K7xx).  Your contrarian views are appreciated.   Regarding the 598 though (sorry to get off topic), is whatever bass they have fast and tight?  I'm not a...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

So, from my reading of almost all of the 240 pages of this thread, and Reddit, etc., it appears that the K7xx would be an overall better performer and scale better than the HD598?  But, with the HD598 price being $80-$100 less than the K7xx, what about from a value perspective?   I would be...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Hi,   Quick question if I could.  Would it be safe to assume that these would work well with blues music; Etta James, Ruthie Foster, Robert Cray, Sam McClain, Little Milton, etc.   Thanks,   Matty

What do you think of these options for my first open-back headphone?

You may also want to include the MassDrop edition Fostex TH-X00.  Not fully open, I believe semi-open.  Easily powered, suits your music, under $400 and just drop dead gorgeous.  Drop currently going on.   I am thinking about them too.........along with many that you are also looking at.  ...

Hi,   As someone else (OK, many others) just mentioned, I'm new member here, expanding from other areas of audio.  Have been focused for many years on my home system and also on a collection of vintage stereo receivers.   Seems like a great time to become involved in the headphone world!  ...
