The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...
Thanks for the info! The earpads on them don't seem old at all, probably swapped in the recent years. Are there different earpads I could try on them to get a better seal? The 6.35 jack on that cable is the worst I have yet seen lmao. I'm surprised it's still intact. Should I reterminate it to 4pin?- patrikh

Question about Opeth's "Damnation"
I was just at an Opeth gig and I don't remember which song they were talking about but it got sliced in half to fit a radiostation requirement. This might be it. They told Opeth that their song was way too long for radio (like 12min) and they should make a shorter version to which Opeth replied... -
The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...
I tried them without the headband, imbalance was only due to seal problems. Sounds pretty flat and piercing.- patrikh

The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...
Ok, the original headband design is pretty atrocious, I have to listen to them upside down because they won't fit over my head :O. Getting a proper seal with the pads is pretty hard. They also seem to have channel imbalance. Any tips on fixing that?- patrikh

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
I bought a pair of v2 earpads from user yellowblue in March and I've been using them since with my v1. To give you a fair assessment on the sonic changes, I took my time with them. My initial impressions were aligned with yellowblue, in that the pads changed the signature closer to neutral while...- patrikh

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
I decided to make a custom headband so that my new pleather headband that I got from hifiman doesn't suffer the same fate as my previous one. The custom headband, unlike the stock, is made of real leather and is much more durable than the stock. Leather is tanned with oil so it doesn't...- patrikh

Yea it needs some warm-up, the dac side in particular. Can't explain why but it sounds superb when it's hot, and I mean hot... the thing gets hot like a pan.- patrikh

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
From strategic perspective it only makes sense if the opposing side (customers) don't detect the behaviour. I suspect the transparency of their strategy and the displeasement it has caused will prove to be a lot worse for them than if they had just sold the pads. I would not have taken the same...- patrikh

Breaking News: HE1000 V2
I personally use a DIY 12 wire copper cable with Oyaide connectors (dual xlr and 2.5) finalised by PETEREK and I do find it better than the stock cable. This, however, is most likely due to my affection to the cable project and its long road around the world. I say this because even thought I...- patrikh

For those who have followed my episode on replacing my decaying/rotting headband, I finally got HFM convinced I can do the operation myself! Breaking News: HE1000 V2
I think they shouldn't have offered an upgrade program because it sets the aftermarket price of the V1 to V2's price minus the upgrade cost at best. They should have just started selling the V2 as just HE1000 and leave the differences as is like fazor vs non-fazor on the audeze side.- patrikh

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
They still won't send me a new headband :/ They now confirmed that they have no v1 leather straps around and they would have to replace the whole band to v2 since v2 leather apparently doesn't fit the v1. They are willing replace the headband with no charge, however, I'm not sure whether I want...- patrikh

Breaking News: HE1000 V2
They first tried to persuade me to upgrade to v2 to which I refused because of reasons mentioned multiple times on this thread (shipping, customs, and of course the price and poor business strategy). Breaking News: HE1000 V2
Modding the headphones with new wood etc. wouldn't be much of an issue if the thing was built to last. Sadly you have to prepared for driver failure and warranty so no modding. I have been talking with their support about the headband for quite a while because I want a replacement. The headband...- patrikh
