I mean this as a sincere response.  I would be more concerned about damaging the receivers in your ears.  Sharp spikes of of high dB are one of the things that degrade hearing over time and precipitate tinnitus.  Etymotics makes a line of audio/musician earplugs that reduce the max dB that gets...

Been listening a lot with used 4pin XLR  HD800 cans with MJ2/Gumby combo with balanced connectors and Amperex PQ orange label USA tubes and have not been bothered by 6K issues although I may still try some mods just to experiment.  I think the tubes have a lot to do with the warmth I'm hearing...
