A layman multimedia guide to Immersive Sound for the technically minded (Immersive Audio and Holophony)
Sony sponsored Dr. Choueiri and now his patents generate the highest royalties of Princeton. Perhaps Sony is actually using code and algorithm from the 3D3A lab...- jgazal

To crossfeed or not to crossfeed? That is the question...
Yes, it seems simplistic now that I read your comment and the article you linked. I don't know that much about the subject to affirm what really happened when recordings appeared. I've been obsesively thinking in recent years which effect new advancements in immersive audio would have in music...- jgazal

To crossfeed or not to crossfeed? That is the question...
I chose the word “comprehensive” meaning that they incorporate a greater quantity of filters related to the listening room and listener head and torso. It is controversial to valuate them using the words “standard” or “superior” since music reproduction is not pretended to replicate reality...- jgazal

To crossfeed or not to crossfeed? That is the question...
There are much more comprehensive solutions available right now. I can think four: Sony 360 Reality Audio, Bacch for headphones, Realiser A16 and Impulsifier.- jgazal

STAX SR-009S new flagship electrostatic earspeakers released (with impressions)
Maybe too much gain or DC in the source combined with higher volume levels at the amplifier made the diaphragm touch the stators?- jgazal

To crossfeed or not to crossfeed? That is the question...
I have been wondering cities plenty of electric vehicles without combustion engines. Less ambient noise in listening rooms. Then DSP units, crosstalk cancellation and convolution filters widespread in all kind of entertainment devices. The only combustion to hear would be rockets to the moon. No...- jgazal

I've just received the second headtracker. So now I can confirm they delivered the reward established in the Kickstarted campaign. I have a working unit with all accessories I have been entitled to.- jgazal

You are probably right, because my acoustical environment, my headphones and my own hearing might not be perfect. For instance, although my speakers are placed equidistant to me and to the adjacent walls, in a reflection free zone (I have rock wool absorbers), I hear male voices to the left and...- jgazal

Soloing the speakers and head tracking really helped me to comprehend the externalization the first time I listened. I did it without video, only stereo.- jgazal

It was actually the first time I used the A16 with a PRIR and HPEQ made with microphones in my ears. I could not use spdif to run the PRIR and HPEQ apps. I believe now I can play everything through SPDIF. The firmware update was only an observation not related to the bugs mentioned in this...- jgazal

I also applied firmware 1.60 upgrade. I’ve just tested the stereo analog in and front left and right analog outputs: Cd (rca out) > A16 (stereo rca in and stereo 3.5mm stereo output sockets) > Amplifier (xlr in) > electrostatic headphones. Measured stereo speakers PRIR and electrostatic...- jgazal

I haven’t received the second headtracker yet. They did send without tracking so it is probably stuck at customs, since it usually takes months to clear here with public standard shipping. I was trying to keep it simple, but now to run the HPEQ I need a RCA to XLR cable or a firmware update with...- jgazal

Dac was connected to the spdif out-A. I pressed test and heard the internal audio test loop (a saxophone) on my headphones. When I pressed HP (run) nothing happened.- jgazal

Sorry, I wrote it wrong. I haven't tried the line output on the back. Anyway, won’t work with my setup. Actually it is also a limitation of the amplifiers I have available. It is easy to make a cable though.- jgazal

Measured my stereo speakers using the analog output. I thought it was possible at least to run an hpeq from the digital output but no, it only runs on the analog front headphone output. I will have to build a trs to xlr cable before I can run the hpeq, since the electrostatic amplifiers I have...- jgazal

Erik, there are two limitations now. There is no more a y-junction unfortunately. And there is no post silence setting currently implemented. There is no “crosstalk cancellation” playback function currently implemented via software.- jgazal

Has anyone tried to send RIR measurement sweeps through USB? I have just implemented a FIR filter for my room using REW, Rephase and Equalizer APO and I would like to measure my room through that filter that is convolved by my computer and the sent via HDMI to my TV.- jgazal
