Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I previously owned the awful first-gen WF-1000X and currently use WH-1000XM3 as my daily driver. Yesterday I demoed the WF-1000XM3 at store with my HTC10 as source (AAC codec was used). Only tried it with Apple Music and Youtube......it doesn't support anything beyond AAC anyway. Stock silicon...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I have a noob question: in theory, would the clocking precision of BT source impact sound quality of wireless headphones? For example, would a dedicated DAP with Femto-grade oscillators built-in renders a cleaner digital signal (with less jitter) than a smart-phone? Let's assume no SRC/both...

Reply to review by 'Arthur Li' on item 'Sennheiser Momentum 2.0'

The first gen full-sized Momentum actually sounds better than the second (less mid-bass emphasis & clearer treble response), but the earpad openings are smaller and not that comfortable. On the other hand, the on-ear version sounds terrible.

I realize the carelessness in my comment. Sincere apology. I don't have any intention to offend sexual minorities etc.

    Campfire Audio IO

Honestly speaking, while I love the aesthetics of the IO/new Polaris, I just don't get the new packaging & carrying cases' appeal. The old-style Campfire Audio packaging feels understated yet luxurious - it just convey a sleek, mature impression to the end-users. In contrast, the packaging of...

Have any MW07 user experience driver flex when inserting the buds? Left side of mine starts to develop this issue after few days of use. Kinda worrying......

    Sennheiser Q&A: Momentum True Wireless

Are the 7mm drivers within Momentum True Wireless based on the flagship model IE800S' drivers?

Very polarized. I checked out lots of Chinese reviews and have a feeling that vast majority of positive reviews were paid while the negative ones were from unaffiliated users.

I just check the internet and realize that the product is was released in China 2 weeks ago LOL......many Chinese mainlanders have already get the product. On the other hand, HiFiMAN hasn't release any english press about it so I would assume that TWS600 won't be released outside of China soon.

BTW, it seems to have tons of firmware bugs.

Hifiman just announce a pair of tws earbuds. Should be around 150USD. Using their topology driver. No aptX though.

Surprisingly, I prefer the sound of mw07 over momentum TW. Overall, I find mw07 sounding more balance than the momentum. Momentum is just too bassy and has a slight tendency to emphasize sibilance. On the other hand, mw07 is bassy but not boomy. Sibilance isn't as pronounced as the Sennheiser...

    Astell&Kern KANN CUBE

At this rate, Astell & Kern will soon become the only DAP manufacturer that refuse to adopt 4.4. It surely is going to weaken their products' competitiveness. Only truly gigantic corporations like Apple & Sony can retain their products' competitiveness while sticking with inferior connection...

    Campfire Audio IO

Sad to see the Orion being discontinued due to the new release. I think Orion is the most neutral sounding offering to date by Campfire Audio - more so than the slightly V-shaped Andromeda. As Orion retires from the line-up, there is currently no "reference-tuning" earphone within Campfire's...

My mw07 should arrive within a few hours. Would compare them with the Sennheiser......even though many have already done so......

Used to think that aptx is just gimmick......turns out the difference between SBC and aptx is immense. Sennheiser MTW sounds boomy and overwhelming with SBC, bass response get much tighter with aptx.

    Plasma tweeters as headphone drivers?

    Wow...thanks for sharing!

    Plasma tweeters as headphone drivers?

Just realized that every single type of speaker tweeter design I am aware of has already been adopted in headphone design [even AMT (e.g. Obravo, ESS) and ribbon (e.g. RAAL)] - except for compression driver and plasma tweeter. Utilizing compression driver technology in headphone seems nonsense...

Newly Released Sennheiser CX Series Earphones: In particular, the CX 3.00 and CX 5.00G

Cannot get a proper seal with CX1.00......none of the stock tips work (don't have any aftermarket tips on hand either) - and unexpectedly it still sounds half-way decent. Last time I failed to get a decent seal with IEMs is with HiFiMAN's RE-400 and I can't hear any bass out of the those in-ears...

I have owned E3000/4000 and demoed the 2000 & 5000. After listening to E1000, I have a feeling that it is the best sounding model within E series......Bass is well extended and present - with none of that boomy bass nonsense plaguing the rest of the series.

Any One Else Agree That IEMs Using Portable DAC/AMP yields little to no improvement? Agree or Disagree?

I think the main points of using external dac/amp is to ensure low source's output impedance/ to avoid hiss noise. BTW, since many phones don't have headphone jack nowadays, using dac/amp becomes necessary if you want to use phone as audio source (except for blue-tooth iems)......Apple lightning...

There need to be more de-hyped reviews like this on Head-fi. So many mediocre stuffs got hyped, especially in the "budget-fi" segment. I think many people hyping these uninspiring products are new to the hobby, coming from Bose, Skull-Candy etc. and haven't heard any decent sounding cans before...

Does Ultrasone Go actually got that "S-Logic" sound?

Saw a new old stock pair going for around 65 pounds. Tempted to buy it - I've been curious about that "S-Logic" voodoo since long time ago. Buying that pair also seems to be the least costly way to own a "S-Logic" equipped pair of cans. My hesitation upon pulling the trigger comes from the form...

    Campfire - Solaris

Hahaha......you must pay no attention to Chi-fi at all. I cannot remember how many Chi-fi companies use "we tuned our shxts according to Harman Target" as a major selling point, such as Moondrop & Fearless Audio.
