Effect Audio cables thread
Hi, I would like to share a little more of my impressions of the two Pilgrims. I think it is easier to explain with the aid of this FR graph I posted elsewhere: Orange: Pilgrim:Noir aligned with the Pilgrim OG with reference to the treble region Cyan: Pilgrim OG's FR with 1k set...- saldsald

The Frequency Spectrum only refers to the fundamental frequencies of these instruments. It doesn't mean that an instrument cannot reach harmonics higher or lower than the range.- saldsald

Hey Yea, I also bought an extra pair of ConX Pen Ear before their arrival for the AB testings. Also been tip rolling for the OG and I think TRN T Tips are pretty good there. I think the OG loves to get more gain to balance out the treble and the bass, too.- saldsald

Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread
No no, I removed the driver to harvest the shell. I think it's really difficult if not impossible to remove a DD from a metal shell without destroying it, lol. I usually buy pricer DDs from the factories directly. Not always good results as the shell take a major part in the sound. Modding the...- saldsald

The available space is really limited for this one and yeah, I actually removed the original DD completely for a future project. The limited space makes it not an ideal shell for further modding but adding a BA is fine.- saldsald

Hi, I used both a cap and a resistor. There's no space for a damper or a tube. The slot is directly connected to the front cavity of the DD so you can only electronically tune it. I dampened it to give the sound just a bit more texture and if you don't dampen it enough you will hear all the BA...- saldsald

Yea but from my experience the wire insulation material (the skin) do sometimes give the sound a different response / character. Try this, one of the best songs and albums for sound testing IMO.- saldsald

The stock cable of PILGRIM OG is fairly bright and I can't say I like it in stock form. Not a concern if you plan to get an Pentaconn Ear adaptor for other cables however. NOIR is a better package but comes at a higher price.- saldsald

Just a quick impression: While the Eros S Noir is a good match for the PILGRIM NOIR even without burn-in, I find the Code 24C to be the perfect match ATM. :L3000: Clean and precise treble without any harsh harmonics, adequate thumpy bass response, good definition of stage and separation...- saldsald

The OG is too bright for me at higher volume so I personally prefer the NOIR which allows more bass to kick in without the treble sounding too forward.- saldsald

That's why I think all reviews should be stuck to the OOTB experience with all the included accessories only (and even that we cannot isolate the variation in sources, DAP, desktop setup, etc.) or there should be another section with the reviewers' cables/tips, which, they are supposed to list...- saldsald

Let's keep this topic more open rather than jumping to conclusion that it's all about impedance matching. At least, you are only measuring the DC resistance with a multimeter and the AC resistance is frequency dependent, meaning you have a different resistance at different frequencies. And I...- saldsald

Just received my 1st IEM of 2024. The Hidizs MP145. Grabbed it during the recent AE sale at $100 with express shipping. :sunglasses: Stage size is only average as I was expecting a much larger size per the reviews. It's noticeably smaller than the Dioko and still smaller than my other IEMs. I...- saldsald

The 2.5 mm plug has a TRRS configuration meaning that the sleeve is also used for signal transmission and which the other end is always made of a cheaper material than the TRR. Terrible design to begin with for 'balanced' signals.- saldsald
