Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

I didn't realise how cheap the Hdv820 was used. I just ordered one for £1000. After selling my mojo 2 and poly it's pretty much covered! I really wonder how it's going to sound in comparison to the mojo 2

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

I've seen a few posts about people having a DAC into amp setup with the HD800S I'm curious what amps you would recommend in the £400-1000 price range and also how big a difference this makes since I thought one of the points of the mojo2 was for it's amplification?

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

Hello all, I thought I would take the time to document my journey with the HD800S I was an IEM user for quite some time, using the Sennheiser IE800S with a chord mojo. I had always wondered what the HD800S sounded like in comparison to the IE800S and happened to be on an outting in Harrods...

    Portable DAC/AMP for IE800S

After reading my original post just to clarify something. I didn't personally find any need to use another AMP with the Chord Mojo. The built in AMP is crazy powerful and honestly the sound is just perfect. There's no need to mess around with it. The precision of the volume control is really...

    Portable DAC/AMP for IE800S

In all honesty the Leckerton is a solid unit but I could hear that with the IE800S there was probably room for improvement. Upon making the purchase for the Chord Mojo the difference is night and day to me in all honesty. I did have a look at the ifi XDSD and it looks like a solid Japanese...

    Portable DAC/AMP for IE800S

I did end up taking the plunge since from the information presented online it looked like a good pick. You're absolutely right. The wow factor and musicality with the Mojo is unbelievable and it pairs really well with the IE800S since they're quite an analytical pair of IEMs. I'm very happy...

    Portable DAC/AMP for IE800S

Hello all! Right now I'm using a Leckerton Audio UHA-6S.MKII with my IE800S. I'm a little curious about upgrading them since I've heard there are better options out there. The one that's caught my eye is the Chord Mojo which looks pretty good. My question is if that would be a good...

JVC HA-FW01 - The New Top End Wood Driver IEM (2017)

It might be bad luck and I don't mean it in a way where I'm generalising and saying they're all bad units. I made sure to state the fact that they're solid units and the audio is great. If JVC now provide warranty for these devices in the USA then that totally invalidates my point in the USA...

Raising my game: what comes after the SMSL AD-18 for 2.0 + headphones?

Honestly since the low gain maximum volume setting on the Leckerton unit is basically a preamp I think you'll be okay. The same setting is perfect for plugging headphones into as well. Trust me once you listen to that setup on your speakers you'll be glad you gave it a shot!

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!

You're right actually the unfluted bezel looks a lot more minimal, I didn't consider that. It's a very good choice and looks great! Especially with the Oyster bracelet since the Jubilee can be very blingy. I have to say if I were buying a Datejust though I would want to go all out with the...

Raising my game: what comes after the SMSL AD-18 for 2.0 + headphones?

A line out as in RCA sockets or do you mean a preamp function? You can get an Auxilary to RCA adapter/cable or in terms of preamp you can set it to maximum volume on low gain mode which is +/- 0 dB unamp'd volume which serves the same purpose for all intents and purposes. That's what I did when...

That looks like a really nice and fun watch! That's what I love about Tag, their watches are designed to be everyday watches. For the bezel I think if you send it into Tag for a service they would be able to restore it for you. Genesis Watchmaking are also a very highly recommended company. It...

Yup! I've tried on a Rolex Datejust with a fluted bezel for example which is also a really beautiful watch but I have to say I enjoy the minimal aspect of the Carrera a lot more. For example I can wear it to work without having to worry about it being too flashy and it simply looks great!

Raising my game: what comes after the SMSL AD-18 for 2.0 + headphones?

Exactly you could do that! They have three different digital inputs which makes it quite flexible. My dad actually has some insane B&W and Wharfdale speakers with an NAD AMP that I've plugged the Leckerton's into and the increase in sound quality was really something. I think the mix of the...

I just bought a Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 and I have to say it's absolutely beautiful. It's very minimal and the build quality is just amazing.

These look beautiful. The problem with me is I'm a hair fanatic and I hate the fact that headphones ruin your hair which is why I prefer IEMs (a crazy reason I know!) But one day I would love to try a pair of these out.. maybe in the future when I go bald

    Schiit Ragnarok Amplifier

I'm curious about how this amp compares to say the amp contained in the Leckerton UHA-6S.MKII. I get the feeling that for IEMs the difference wouldn't be too big?

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)

I've always wondered about the Ultimate Ears products. I've heard great things about them. Unique Melody isn't a brand I've heard of but the design looks a lot like the IE80 with the brushed metal which is quite interesting.

Looking for someone who makes cables.

Vesper Audio make cables and also recable IEMs. I've heard great things about them!

Low end. Cheap. Generic. Otherwise bang for buck cable thread!

On Amazon they have some pretty nice generic cables that are actually handmade in China. They're also marketted as oxygen free copper which is a definite bonus.

New to watches, need some help.

As many people in this thread have correctly pointed out Swiss watches are the best and if you're on a budget then Tissot is the brand to go for. You can get a very beautiful well made Swiss quality watch at a surprisingly affordable price. I purchased a Tissot Couturier myself and was pretty...
