Stax SR-009 and T2 successors confirmed for spring 2017
I tried this with the L700 at the singapore can jam. Holey crapola! It was really amazing. This might become my first foray into electrostatics.- Witcher

I agree with all points, except for the sibilance bit. My experience is the opposite. I am completely fine with the treble on the HD800S, but I had to use the Loki Mini to tame the treble of the ADX5000. But I agree that despite a smaller soundstage, the overall SQ is nicer.- Witcher

The amp is not bypassed. It's line level. Not Line out. you're still double amping. I confirmed this with a Chord representative at Can Jam Singapore. It was the same case with Mojo, and as is with Hugo 2.- Witcher

Hugo 2 into HDV820? You're double amping then? along with a bass boost? I had a situation previously running a mojo into an ifi itube 2 set as a preamp and the ican SE, and I got tube distortion from over amping. (the sort of tube distortion you'd get from over driving a guitar tube amplifier)...- Witcher

It really depends on your setup I think. I have boosted bass options on mine, and have tested bass heavy tracks, even Ariana Grande’s side to side and Prince’s Insatiable. Absolutely no issues with bass farts (assuming that’s what you’re referring to) on the HD800S, despite brain stem vibrating...- Witcher

I got the Dekonis in the hopes that I'll have the same experience with the HD800S, only more lush feeling. I put them on and removed them within 15 mins. While they did add to the comfort by a tiny margin (negligible for me), the way they spaced out the sound even more was a no no. I did not...- Witcher

Sony Z1R....listening impressions only
I noticed the wider soundstage, but the individual instruments and vocals did sound a bit thinner than I was used to. Perhaps it's because of the wider soundstage that I perceived the effect since the cohesion is now different? Good point. I'm not sure what settings were on. Need to go back...- Witcher

Sony Z1R....listening impressions only
Guys, I recently went to try out the TAZH1ES at the Sony flagship store with the Z1R. I didn't bring my own set, as they had theirs there, and I was surprised at what I heard. When I tried the Z1R previously with the WM1Z, The sound was outstanding. Full, highly separated, and engaging. No such...- Witcher

You've not found the treble to be too distracting? Maybe it's my setup. I need to manage it with an EQ to round off the trebles. They're ok for short/medium term listening, but long term I find them tiring.- Witcher

Sony Z1R....listening impressions only
My Z1R is the only pair of headphones that's constantly nagging at me to stop looking at other headphones. I still do, of course, but somehow even after trying/buying some other headphones, the Sony is still my comfort zone. Some how, even for days when I have a headache, or something's stopping...- Witcher

A brief write up from Tyll: https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/ces-2018-audio-technica-ath-adx5000-over-ear-open-flagship-headphones The irony here is that if he says the Z1R is harshly bright, while these are good, I'm going to start wondering what he's hearing that I'm not. Lol!!!- Witcher

can somebody explain in layman's terms what a tube in a tube amp does and how it works?
Rectifiers have nothing to do with signal amplification. They are meant to convert alternating currents into direct currents. Nowadays, most circuits use solid state rectifiers, with some exceptions. It's nice to have warm glowy stuff in your circuit, so sometimes, tube rectifiers are used...- Witcher

I think there's a difference between the Fostex "originals" and their MD derivatives, which is why I'm dying to try out the TH900. My opinions are based on the THX00EB, which is all I've heard.
