Yeah, similar story to the original 1956 Hamburg Valvo 6201 PWTMAG-SP, sounds good until you put the 58/59 PWTM back in and realize they don't even come close. Rare as rocking horse crap though, so I 'll keep them :) Only detailed photo I can find, I'll take one of mine this week.

I recently upgraded my studio audio interfaces, and the main interface sounds better to my ear than the Yggi, so decided to sell it. The Interface is a Universal Audio X16 - not much use to anyone outside production/studio use, as most people don't need 16 ins and 16 outs...

If you happen to get tempted by a 56 pair of Valvo 6201, steel pin, single post D getter (1st 6201 by Valvo), save your money. They got nothing no the Triple Micas. Thankfully got them from a seller that didn't realize they were rarer than rocking horse crap, so only paid a few hundred.

I think I'm more tempted by the 455s, but don't know if I get the SQ getter or D?

I don't doubt the year. the one you pictured has rhodium plated pins, hence them remaining shiny. The internal construction is also classic 70s Russian tube. Stock tube for that amp is a 6N11, which is a chinese equivalent of 6922, 6n23p being a Russian equivalent, electrical spec across all of...

Try searching tube socket saver. they basically stay in the amp, and you put your tubes into it. It saves the pins on the amp socket from wear if you’re doing a lot of tube swapping...

The year is stamped on the bottom right of the logo on those. Most Russian tubes have the year on them in standard form, as opposed to a date code like other tubes. It is unusual that all 5 have the same bad triode. Do both triode heaters light up? Try giving the pins a clean? What amp is it?

Do you have tubes that don't have the issue? If so, it sounds like the new tubes you got are dying on one triode.

If you switch the tubes (left tube in right socket and vice versa) does the problem follow the tube, or does it stay on the left channel? Are you using socket savers?
