My Thanko Silent Mouse EX finally gave up the ghost after over half a dozen years of duty, so I went looking for current silent mouse offerings, and am currently trying the Buffallo Premium Fit; while apparently better built, it's not quite as silent, but will do until I find a better option...

Awesome! I might order a new one when I give into "upgrading" my old DX100, giving the DOC2008 FW a try, and also the Ray-Out case: see how that one works versus my Norêve one.   As the new DX200 is out of my reach for the present time and near future, I might as well treat myself to some...

Yes, well, iBasso also denied that there was any SQ or sound signature differences between the different official FW releases for the DX100, but nearly all of the DX100 users agreed there was.

Desktop DAC and 6V output at disposal and you expect long playtime with high-res' & DSD? Honestly...

I'm just warning iBasso, maybe a bit heavy-handedly, that everything will have to be ironed out before I consider a new DAP investment. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only DX100 owner with this mind-frame.

I don't know. The DX100 software never got stable enough. Only those talented third party FW programmers saved it. For $830, that's not so great. Now five years later and $869, it seems to be starting off the same way. The hardware is top notch, maybe best in class, since some say it gives the...

And there I was hoping that they'd released a more stable OS  with the DAP from start, but no... A bit sad that it'll be a third party modder who will get it right and not iBasso themselves. They should hire that Russian chap who releases many fixed FWs.

Sounds good, keep the news coming! With the DX100, the sound really got great after 400 hours of use and using FW1.2.7. Good to hear the OS is slicker. I'll wait for very positive reviews made after >200 hours of listening time and release of an amp module with ø6.5mm HO to contemplate...

Don't try any Armagnac hors d'âge or vintage, or there's no turning back...

On the DX100, 4 hours of battery life is with high res' and high gain. No gain and redbook gets you 8 hours. And with low impedance headphones, of course. So don't expect miracles from the DX200 I'd venture to say : power, lots of power at disposition for headphones means it will eat power...

Just that the DX100 could range from pretty neutral to warmish, even a bit bass heavy, with all the different FW, so, comparing to other DAP sound signatures, including this new DX200, it might be useful to add what FW.

The DX100 this, the DX100 that... if one doesn't specify the FW used, the comparison isn't quite precise enough...

I'm not as much disappointed by the single µSD slot as I am by the internal storage, which I expected to be at least of 256GB for a flagship DAP.

With higher-end headphones, IEM's, or connected to an even mid-level amp & speakers played sufficiently loud, playing music you know well, I'm afraid MiniDisc equipment's limitations become apparent. Hi-MD mode on Hi-MD MiniDiscs is the only acceptable way for sound quality, that is, at least...

Me too! And swappable amp modules is good news, since I wasn't overenthusiastic at first with no 6.3ømm headphone output.

Hell, I'm still enjoying my DX100 while patiently awaiting a true successor. None of the DAPs that have come out since the launch of the DX100 have tempted me so far.
