I heard that option 2 is preferred. The reasoning is that the extender is not a switch, and it will forward all IP addresses to the downstream devices, which will then need to sort and select the proper IP. This extra activity creates noise in the extender. The explanation makes sense to me...- audiobomber

I believe this function must first be set up in the router. I have Wireless Settings in my TP-Link Archer C9 router's operating system which allow me to set "Channel Width" and "Channel". Both are set to Auto. I could select a channel manually, but I let the router choose, because the...- audiobomber

An RE650 will automatically choose the cleanest broadcast frequency. You should configure it for both 2.4 and 5Ghz and allow it to choose. Disabling the broadcast radio as you've done provides a noticeably cleaner signal.- audiobomber

Are you absolutely certain your service provider will not allow you to use your own router? That would be very unusual, you should check again. I know you must use their modem, but you should be able to configure the modem/router so it acts strictly as a modem. If the device they supplied cannot...- audiobomber

I have Dekoni Elite Velour pads. They're comfy alright, but they suck the life out of the music. PRaT killers. :triportsad:- audiobomber

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
I had the Amiron in-house for two weeks and returned it. A friend has the T1-Gen3. I am not a fan of the Beyerdynamic "consumer" sound profile, as found in the T1-3 and Amiron. I much prefer the harder hitting DT 1990 sound, and only with Analytical pads.- audiobomber

Yes, SFPs do require break-in. It's a miniature circuit board, with traces, surface mount resistors, capacitors, and more.- audiobomber

The 1318 should be quite an improvement. Yes, confusing for sure. I'm told most single fiber cable is manufactured by Corning. The main thing is to get a yellow cable with blue connectors. I purchased this one, but it was offered in single packs, now only available in packs of six. The specs...- audiobomber

Which is closest to your DAC? I have a friend with an SW-10 and EtherRegen/Pardo MiniTeddy feeding an Antipodes K50. I brought my opticalModule Deluxe V2/Pardo MiniTeddy to his house to replace the SW-10 at the network end. After listening for an afternoon, he intends to sell the LHY and buy...- audiobomber

There's no doubt that connecting directly to the router is the worst. A switch is mandatory for better sound quality, and more than one is beneficial, IME, as long as they are used in the proper order, with the best switch last. My NAS is a noisy creature, it never shuts up, therefore not...- audiobomber

No doubt. LOL! I found quite a big difference with a Small Green Computer 10GTek SFP vs. a FTLF1318P3BTL in the EtherRegen. The 10GTek has quite a recessed bass range, which makes music less involving. I use a pair of these in my desktop system, which I believe are identical to the 10GTek...- audiobomber

Compared to what? Have you tried any audiophile switches? Upgraded power supplies? I research tech data, pro reviews and audiophile opinions before buying anything, and I do a home trial whenever possible.- audiobomber

I've had a Network Audio Muon on loan from a friend for over a week now. I tried it at the audio end, between my EtherRegen and exaSound PlayPoint renderer, playing files from my NAS. The difference was so subtle that it took me a few days to figure out what it was doing to the sound. In the end...- audiobomber

It's not about data loss. We agree, the bits arrive as they should, otherwise there would be a dropout or massive distortion. The explanation is on the UpTone Audio website, from an expert in silicon chip design and a leader in the field of network audio, which you are clearly not. cpurdy: "It...- audiobomber

Sorry, I don't know whether adding another iSilencer upstream would benefit you. Probably, but could go either way. I use the iSilencer further back in the chain so it can benefit three of my systems. I could add three more iSilencers, but it's just not worth it, given my priorities. The closer...- audiobomber
