    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Specs are great, but the price of $68 (???) is the total shameless moneygrab of Linsoul. Original AS10 were $45, still around at $40 now for their gentle greatness (the very special KZ for me that dragged me into this rabbit hole). Then if one can buy AS16 pro for $35-$40 now - no any sense for...

The 'competitiveness" is surely coming from Rockwell posts mentioning on overtaking Discovery in multiple instances (and I do root for the Discovery, at least since $1000+ cables are hard to rationalize for me being a scientist, so I am happy just to colour match within $30 or so). Finally, I...

Just a casual deep analysis (as per Simpsons) by Rockwell, right? (LOL) P. S. I am the one "guilty" for celebrating 100,000 post here. I like the numbers and observe them with the curiosity (but not "seriously"), as well as the peculiarities of the fashion business (so well said by Rockwell) of...

Free samples "BS" under "No BS" auspices/pretenses that are so hyperbolically false and totally unbelievably blatantly anazing!! C'est des conneries! So "merde" :frowning2: :frowning2: ST7 is no BS (a very decent/competent IEM - and that is coming from a hardly much of a TRN fan).

Liquer/Lacquer tips? The midbass of Merga is quite thin indeed, not my tuning, but then there are more prominent midbass misers, like Hexa, that were praised/hyped. Similar to Hexa, orange tips salvaged Merga to be quite acceptable to my ears. In another note, the synergy of the nicely...

Really? Rockwell not cheering for the number of posts and page numbers on numerous occasions and not asking at least several times about overtaking Discovery thread? Furthernore, to one of his posts about overtaking Discovery - you gave quite a detailed answer with the projections based on post...

Oh, the Watercooler thread is getting behind the Discovery in the numbers of posts ;) (I know some Watercoolers are very much into the number of posts and into "overtaking" Discovery - with the last month dynamics - not gonna happen :)) On a more constructive note, the amount of...

I am really happy to hear that you liked ZS10 pro 2! It is really nice to hear, made a difference to my day after work, and is one of the great fun of this hobby (I used to enjoy it so much back then in 2019/2020 in KZ's thread where people just shared their positive opinions, and it was fairly...

Just a simple brief opinion, I got ZVX for ca. $6.5, (under $10 Cad), as an add-on to other purchases some time a previous month. ZVX is hefty and very solidly built - not likely to be destroyed by any external factors. Sounds very acceptatble. If ZVX is better than Polaris (?), then Castors...

Intrresting graphs. I would suggest to look at nornalization first. If dB values are correct (and they should be) the non-normalized graph for the red nozle should be higher in magnitude/intensity. Software then likely normalizes all graphs by default to the same intensities at 1 kHz or lower...

While I am a great fan of KZ (and in my upcoming Waterheater or Waterboiler (?) thread, KZ is expected to be heavily promoted and blindly compated to totls :)) I can only name every all-BA KZs by heart (have them all, many in multiple copies). I used to be a great fan of CCA with all their...

Merga Orangy Reemergence (I felt almost qualified to apply for a KZ text writer position, and to include tongue twisters as a skill in my resume:)) Merga has been fitted and explored with Lacquer/Liquor tips - and it definitely worked! Not to transform $13 to $1500 IEM, and my expectations were...

Colours of the days: 5Few cables from XINHS (very nice vendor)- great colours: from bright blue/green to subtle moss green and beatuful blue/golden. New plastic shells of connectors are nice and colourful. Then, surprise-surprise - a close similarity: Both are equally worthy. Acer 2.0 is my...

Well, if the truth must be told - the real Phonophi is in the basement well secured by KZ cables (and with the KZ legendary quality and Phonophi KZ quantities) - no escape - eating only vegies to save for the total totls, signing up for kilobuck cable tours, votting for Tru.... I am back! The...

My "Discovery" of the day - KZ Merga arrived: Just $13, not $1200, not even a Penon or Linsoul, but I hope that nice little discoveries are OK here too, right? While the shells are all about cost-savings, they do not look that cheap. I really like that the letters are more subtly looking than...

KZ seems to be reluctant to use both piezo (that I would love ideally to see in their IEMs,) and EST (that I fully support - grossly expensive, electrets may lose polarization, and I am personally not putting high voltage in my ears even for free samples - not greatest technology overall, IMHO)...

My "wow" synergy story of the day/week is the one with A&K HC2 DAC/dongle: Sources do mighty contribute to the sound chain, sorry Sound Science regurgitators with your mantra "all DACs should sound the same" - no way! So my first experience with HC2 - the mid-centric HiSenior U4 - the sound...

I loved BA sound from the very first listening - nice and simple with 1More Triple that I still use and enjoy as a real "beater". Then KZ AS10 was so wow that I can tell a lot of stories. BAs sound is nice and engaging to my ears for music enjoyment. Somehow I never felt that DD sound is...

Dolby renderings are some of the processing (DSP) options developed for movie theaters and further adopted for home theaters. Start to enjoy comparisons & synergies of DACs and all-BAs and hybrids: (8 by 8 are chosen (felt sorry for the exclusion of many others; may repeat my EDI training...) some dongles, like iBasso, are for purely decorative purposes). Absolutely, using even a simpler equalizer is very cost-effective (that is why I feel that there is a carefully cultuvated mantra that "real audiophiles" do not equalize - they spend money to support the hobby). Then DSP can bring it to the next level (delays are only crucial for gaming and...

It is a very good point to consider - how much is needed to know what can be great for someone. I have quite a few anekdotal stories, but skip them. One relevant piece of wisdom (that I learned from one of the SciFi stories) is that in order to ask a good question one often needs to know most of...

Very much true! I long time hoped for multi-chanel (e g. 5,7) recordings becoming a reality. The multidriver transducers are very much there. Thick 8,16-core cables can be readily purposed for multiple channels. Just proper recordings are needed and some initial synchronization with transducers...

Under $150 became my self-imposed limit from the moment one in this hobby. It worked, better and better IEMs (like Trio to most, and AS24 for me) and DACs nowadays. This hobby can be a bit easy if to realize that ultimate/perfect sound reproduction is hardly possible, at least due to current...

The Watercooler -- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.

So true - the value is so much relative in the fashion-like business of totls and $1000+ cables (your wisdom of the "fashion business" was ultimately revelational for my perception of this business and its hobbyists). All in all, personal enjoyment of life is just the difference between desired...
