Schiit Mjolnir 3 - Impressions Thread
I am thinking about getting the MJ3 or Ragnarok. It sound like the MJ would be better for both headphone and preamp duties. I am just wondering in degrees how hot does it get. Don't have many places to put this on my desk. Not sure if it's too hot to place it in front of my monitor or me. If not...- mixman

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
The cheaper tube amps I have heard tended to be noisy, which took away from the benefits of that tube goodness at least for me. Do agree that I will probably have to spend a little more to get a good tube amp. If I do get the Caldera, then I will have a mix of planers and dynamics so OTL will...- mixman

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Will probably get some tubes eventually just depends on which phones I settle on more planers as in Caldera or dynamics as in Atrium.- mixman

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Figured I would ask on the Atrium thread first. I have pair of Verite, which I love but looking for more ZMF goodness. I also have the a pair of Atticus. Should I be looking at the Atrium or Caldera? I have heard neither. Had VC but preferred the VO. I am into warm( but not too warm) with...- mixman

Audeze LCD-4
Audeze has mentioned that you can forfeit your warranty by changing the pads yourself. They say by changing the pads you run the risk of blowing a driver, which cost $1,200 for the pair to replace.- mixman

BestBuy and Tidal Deal
Just got the BB Tidal deal. Also just cancelled my current account and will register the new account once the current subscription period ends. I wish BB or somebody could partner with Qobuz also as I am not too far from hitting the the cancellation button on them At $14.99 for the Qobuz Studio...- mixman

Agree with this. After comparing them back to back the 4 had a touch better resolution also, it's subtle but can be heard.- mixman

Massdrop x THX AAA™ 789 Linear Amplifier - Impressions Thread
So If I were looking for a purely better amp as far a detail and transparency, then I should choose something other than the MJ2? It sounds like you are saying they are both on par with each other, just diiferent tonalities?- mixman

Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
I can say if you think a Verite Open is sibilant (Which I don't this is close to be so), then save yourself time, by not bothering with the TC which has a much more present upper mid than the Verite.- mixman

Audeze LCD-4
As I remember, the LCD4 was fazored from the get go, no pre fazor. Also, as others have mentioned the 100 ohm model is a bad idea. They are prone to failure, which is why they came out with the 200ohm model. Oh and in case the drivers fail out of warranty, the replacement cost is $1,200 for the...- mixman

Audeze LCD-4
Yeah Yeah gotta agree with JLBrach on this one and I have no dog in this race either. The TC and the Suvara are definitely a cut above the LCD4. I and several former owners I know will agree that the LCD4's FR is a little to wonky epecially in the upper mids to compete with the absolute top...- mixman

HiFiMan Susvara
Here is the question though. Does it/will it take a headphone the caliber of the Susvara to distinguish between the subtleties of the A90 and Bakoon? Now I am not talking about tonal balance, which is easier to distinguish, but the extra edge of refinement and detail an amp like the Bakoon would...- mixman

ZMF Verite Open
I have both also and as others have said the VO has a larger soundstage, and is well, more open sounding and more laid back. The VC is more in your face, with more focused imaging and more bite in the upper mids. I have been listening more to the VO since I have pressure sensitize ears and I...- mixman
