Just got these cables in and so far I am impressed. Minimal micrphonics when you tap on the cord (you have to be paying close attention) but that is it. Nice and flexible and they sound great.

The Soundblaster X3 has SXFI and is compatible with the PS5. I'm not sure if the SXFI amp is, but if your TV has Google/Android TV then you might be able to just plug the amp in to a USB port on the TV.

Funny how I will be using these cables with Sundara as well.

Tool is one of my favorite bands so I will definitely check them out.

Creative Soundblaster X3 would be a great choice. It has multiple surround technologies, it sounds great without DSP processing (i.e. for music), and it's only $120.

I just picked up the X3. Great unit and an unbelievable value at $120. The opening guitar in Mary Jane's Last Dance physically tickled my ears. I'm still sorting out SXFI as it seems to be a little different from my SXFI amp, but straight audio seems better so far.

Check out the USB Audio Player app for Android phones. It uses its own USB driver to connect directly to your DAC through the USB port. Other audio player use Android's native USB driver to connect to the USB device, and that limits audio quality.

The Monolith THX AAA Portal DAC/Amp is my favorite for music. If your budget is limited and/or you want a USB dongle that is powered by your phone, check out the Monolith USB DAC.

So this is an issue with reproducing the correct volume levels for lows and busy sections of a music track (or altering lows and busy sections differently), not distortion that sounds like static or like your music is breaking up?
