Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Even though I posted a link to the demographics of Covid-19, I think it would be foolish to put any faith in the numbers. The facts that few countries have test kits deployed and that many of those infected never seek medical care and go uncounted means the fatality numbers are far to high...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

If you're less than 50 you don't really have to sweat Covid-19 any more than the flu, but of course use all recommended precautions. If you over 50 (decades in my case) it is a big problem. Overall mortality maybe 3.4% but it's mostly us old guys. Take a look at this Coronavirus Age, Sex...

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

I'm probably not going to give you a very useful answer. I use both devices to transmit LDAC quality to Sony 1000XM3s. I would suspect that the biggest influence on the quality of what I hear is the DA conversion and amp of the Sonys. I really honestly cannot tell a difference between the two...

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

Hidizs has put themselves in a bad position. They made the hardware which is quite nice but they are relying on Hiby for firmware and software. Never a good place to be, especially since Hiby has to give their own hardware resource priority. So no matter how fast Hidizs would like to fix...

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

FWIW, I could not install the V1.1 update. After trying several cards and repeat downloads I gave up an e-mailed Hidizs. I received step by step instructions plus some advice in less than 24hr and a link to a clean copy of the firmware. It turned out one of my Sandisk 32gb microSD cards which...

The FFmpeg encoder used in a lot of music player apps also requires baseline encoded JPG files. On some a progressive encoded file will not load. See https://cloudinary.com/blog/progressive_jpegs_and_green_martians and https://www.richardfarrar.com/embedding-album-art-in-mp3-files/ If you are...

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

Where is your cover art coming from? What file type(s) are you inputting to the AP80? There are several ways that cover art gets associated with a track or album and there are at least two different formats of cover art. There are also some good apps for fixing your problem but we need to...

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

I only have 2 ears. If I had 4 I could use two AP80s and debate with myself whether to use the same or different headphones. Say one bright, and one bassy. Seriously, I was taught to return what isn't yours. I know the world doesn't always work that way but it's what I do. Honest? Not...

AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

The Saga Continues I received a second AP80 and leather case in the mail today! Hidizs definitely has had some shipping challenges with the AP-80. I told them to send me a pre-paid shipping label and I would send it back to them, or better still, send it on to some unfortunate customer who...

Ever Wonder Why You Didn't Receive a Tracking # ? I received my red AP80 in Dec. I never was asked if I wanted to change colors or wait for red, and I never received a tracking number. It just showed up one day in the PO. All is good with it, I like it. Then on Jan 5 I received a notice...

Like you my initial impression is very good. The screen is especially sharp. I keep looking at album art and thinking it's a different picture, new, bright, detailed. I like the screen. This is my first experience with HibyOS and in general I think they're on the right track except for some...

Santa Claus came early this year! I just went down to the local Post Office and found my red AP80 in my mail box. I never received a tracking number but I am not surprised now that I see the route my AP80 took to get here. I don't know when it was mailed. It was recorded as arrived in Jamaica...

@vault108 Thanks for the suggestion. I too e-mailed hello Hidizs and received an answer in a couple of hours which said: "Thank you for your email. I will chase our shipment team to send out your order as soon as possible. We will let you know if its been shipped." That was yesterday. I...

I haven't received mine yet nor have I heard a word. Since a bunch of US customers have already received theirs I was thinking about making inquiry to Hidizs but from what I read here that is pretty much a waste of electrons....

Wow, that seems hardly fair to the early adapters who wanted blue but were out-voted by the reds (which includes me). It does look good in blue.

I'm getting jealous of all of you that have received your Kickstarter fulfillment AP80. I still have not received an e-mail offering me a change away from Red, nor have I received a pre- (or post) delivery e-mail. Just nothing. One thing I know, when it comes the chances of detecting a radio...

@abitdeef @Zachik where are you located? I still have to opt out of red e-mail so I'm hoping that they will ship mine soon. Kickstarter purchases almost always means a little extra wait. I think Hidizs has done pretty well even if I have to wait another few weeks for a red one.

A simple reboot should undo anything that messed up your laptop when communicating with the AP80. Maybe something happened to your laptop that has nothing to do with the AP80 -- just a coincidence that you were connected to the AP80 at the time. Have you tried diagnosing the laptop via Windows...

Hmmm. I ordered a RED model for USA delivery. I didn't receive the e-mail offering me an alternative color. I wonder if that means that I will get a red one in the first batch. Sure would be nice to know. That said I just finished a long trip using my Shanling M0 and it worked just fine. I...

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Could agree with you more. A part of the industry needs something new to sell every year and they do it by creating things like Hi-Res and MQA. Other companies do it by creating real value. I think Shanling does that. My new M0 is just a pleasure and worth far more than its price.
