Learning what you like and the right sound signature for YOU is a key part of the journey. It’s awesome that you have that dialed in and have the amp coming to match! Congrats on the WA33- I can only imagine how good that will sound, how fun!- AudioDuck

Listening to The Mountain Goats tonight with my Woo WA2 OTL amp and the VCs. Wow, this headphone is spectacular with acoustic instruments and folk/singer-songwriter-type music (and lots of other genres too!). It’s a lot like going to a small, well-acoustically-treated club and relaxing in...- AudioDuck

Indeed, great point. My Verité Closeds are equipped with a Co-Pilot pad for a reason, but with that they are slightly heavy (they are probably well over 500 grams), but very comfortable.- AudioDuck

Speaking from personal experience, John Massaria is an avid audiophile, music lover, and all-around nice guy. I have no doubt that his headphones are excellent, great value, and that his service is top notch. I may get one of his models in the future- the primary reason I have not is that my...- AudioDuck

African Blackwood is an exceptionally hard, dense wood often used for musical instruments (oboes are a good example). I own a Verité Closed in African Blackwood and the wood “speeds up” the sound of the headphone due to the hardness/density of the wood cups, making the dynamic driver more...- AudioDuck

Concur. I might have to go that direction with my next Norne cable, which will be the tether for my Caldera Closed. 😁🥳- AudioDuck

Other than my daily-driver Shure 1540s that take all the abuse I throw at them and never complain, I keep my high-end gear FAR, FAR away from food. I wouldn’t trust myself to avoid getting chocolate sauce, peanut butter, or some other heinous substance on my prized Norne cables or ZMFs. 😂😝🙄...- AudioDuck

Completely agree. Using a very thick, high-quality UPOCC copper cable with my VC has been an excellent match. I found my fusion silver/copper cables to be a bit TOO detail-focused and not ideal compared to the all-copper option.- AudioDuck

🙌 🥳 🎧 (Sitting and listening to Gogo Penguin’s “A Humdrum Star” on the ZMF Atrium Closed with my Sony WM1A while enjoying the updates “at the watercooler”) Huge thanks to those who have pointed out Gogo Penguin’s incredible modern jazz in this forum. Clearly name tags of some sort will be needed. 😁 Worst case I’ll buy a stack of “Hello, my name is…” white labels and carry them with a Sharpie.- AudioDuck

Excellent point. The vast majority or my listening is with my Bluesound Node 2 feeding my Gungnir MB DAC, so my control of playback is via WiFi, as the CDP is purely for backup and hardly ever sees use. 😉 The preamp needs line-of-sight IR remote control, hence I’ll keep it out in the open.- AudioDuck

Funnily enough my next audio-related purchase will be a new and larger/better cabinet for my setup. Thankfully I’ve found a very well-regarded builder in the area who has fair prices and lovely items. I’m thinking something like the below, with the headamps and preamp in the middle/open...- AudioDuck

Speaking of SoCal, I continue to be excited for CJ SoCal (my first!), so I’ll pop in regularly to check in on who’s able to make it. 😁 Is there usually a poll in advance or some “roundup posts” or anything to gather folks?- AudioDuck

Summit-Fi Random Thoughts
FWIW, I have active ATC SCM-19A towers on IsoAcoustics Gaia footers (~$4,000 used) plus a Totem Storm sub on an IsoAcoustics Aperta sub stand (~$800 used) running off a Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE preamp ($1,000 used) with cables to taste/match. About $6,000 plus cables (using my existing...- AudioDuck
