The Watercooler -- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.
It does depend on what we mean by synergy. For me, synergy implies exactly that - a source extracting more information and doing it more musically. A more dynamic listen (which is generally my observation from desktop amping) on its own is not a worthwhile synergy if it loses technical flare...- ian91

Looks like a great portable option for those that like to take their IEMs on the go. On this topic: I see a lot more people feeding huge desktop stacks into their IEMs. Do we feel there are actually IEMs that truly benefit from this approach or is it a matter of synergy that could be achieved...- ian91

Earbuds Round-Up
Ofcourse! It's good value! What I was saying is that if the new Moondrop struggles to compete with that then it's not offering a great deal from a company that could probably do a lot more. Any way, this is me just ranting and is speculative. Could be a great little bud offering super value!- ian91

Earbuds Round-Up
It would be nice to see some real flagship efforts from established IEM brands. I appreciate earbuds are a much smaller market share for portable hi fi but you can achieve so much with a flathead when time and attention is put in. Our DIY community prove that over and over again. X6 is very...- ian91

@Ojisan and @Sifo, have either of you heard the original Superior from QDC? Interested in this EX version but would be nice to know how it shapes up against the original.- ian91

Nope, that's an SPC cable with a black skin. I currently use it with Ibis. The Clan Audio BP cable is a silver electroplated copper with a dark grey skin and is a thinner gauge. You can see a few pictures dotted around this thread.- ian91

If you're after a good quality, lightweight MMCX cable definitely check out OE Audio. https://hifigo.com/collections/oe-audio/products/oe-audio-2dualofc They are a bit dear but I've not found something as good in a similar form factor, for less.- ian91

Venture Electronics Thread
They want to make it worth their while to produce these more niche lines. They also don't prioritise the Western market with their flagships these days as most of their cash flow is from China and Lee is quite happy with that status quo. The market demand is there for these obscure and expensive...- ian91

TGXEAR discussion thread.
Just my two cents/pence on this because it might help someone. I spent a good while running the Alpha via OTL and infact the shear power managed to improve treble and air, effectively brightening it's tonality. Tubes can be rolled to achieve a 'brighter' picture and the power that some OTLs...- ian91

If it's less than $5k, I'll be surprised. It looks expensive and the cable appears similar to one that retails for $3.5k alone.- ian91

FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal!
What do you find appealing about the IMarge and what sort of music are you enjoying it with? I bet it sounds very different to the 335HT! What I really like about my TG333 is the midbass and low midrange tuning. It's full and utilises the BAs really well while still retaining textures. If the...- ian91

FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal!
TG333 has a full lower midrange that I don't perceive as 'bloating' but I do know some people prefer a flatter lower midrange. I just perceive it as slightly warm (not neutral) and naturally organic. Thanks to the good upper midrange and treble presence there is no lack of detail within that...- ian91

The discovery thread!
TG333 is probably my definition of 'warm-neutral'. The midrange is organic with low midrange emphasis, yet it remains detailed with very little sense of veiling. It has a vocal focus with very good clarity while not being overly sharp in the treble. It's a great set for classical, folk, acoustic...- ian91
