Reality-Fi (Reminded of the HD600)
I have never listened to the Sennheiser HD600, but there are so many things that can be compared to the HD600, and are compared to the HD600, and sound like the HD600, that I have in fact listened to it, by osmosis. I've become quite good at noticing when there is more, or less, HD600 in a...- Elegiac

Long-term Fatigue
I get days when everything sounds too harsh. It kicked in last night and it's still going now. Pain in the ass. When I guess that's what is happening, I switch to my most laid-back chain, and if it bothers me then I know for sure. It's not like short-term fatigue, when I simply can't...- Elegiac

VRMS & Gain Calculation
Alright. If I input 2.1vrms into a device which then applies a gain of 0.96, or a loss of -0.35 db, to the signal, would I then be outputting about 1.8 vrms? Trying to nut this out, and this is the closest I feel I've come so far. Any advice would be much appreciated.- Elegiac

Tube Codes: NOS Tungsram EF95
I just payed for a pair of these. Last time I was considering them I tried to figure out the codes in advance, then got tired and went to bed. This time I figured I'd shoot first and ask questions later, since they seem decently rare. I remember that last time I came to the suspicion that they...- Elegiac

'Digital' noise from DAC.
Alright. I have an SMSL SD-793II DAC, I'm feeding it coaxial, and running RCA out to an SMSL SH-6. When the unit is powered on but music isn't playing, and I turn the amp up past 2 o'clock I can hear a rapidly oscillating 'electrical' noise. Not a hum or a hiss. I've worked through every piece...- Elegiac

Lyrics that get stuck in your head.
These always get stuck in my head after listening to Atom Smasher by Swoon 23: "But your atoms... are atoms... and I'm just another atom to you." Typically enlightening nonsense lol.- Elegiac

Australian members...
I don't know whether anyone else has noticed, but Addicted to Audio is currently flogging the Astell & Kern SR25 for $600. That's pretty cheap for one of these things. About $300 less than usual, it seems. Tempted me for all of an hour, but I'm not paying that for entry-level sound and output...- Elegiac
