Which gungnir you have ? A1/A2 ? I remember reading some of the output stages has this issue depending on the impedance of the attached decides. I have an A2 and can hook up Jot 2 via XLR and 2 SE amps without issue, Pietus Maximus and DNA Sonett2

I don't have anything against the lyr+ I have not heard it, however for "PC" audio go all balanced. You'll thank yourself later when you don't get all kind of weird interference garbage from all the electronics everywhere. Jot 2 can be left on forever it runs barely warm, modius or bifrost 2...

Pietus Maximus not piety. Also all the headphone companies besides ZmF you mentioned are all planar magnetics. Some people don't like planar magnetics even if they are "objectively" better headphones on paper.

I don't agree that they are completely unacceptable. There's 3 terminations (the short 3.5 with 6.3 adapter is a good cable actually) the other 2 could be better and way to long but perfectly serviceable.

The stock cables are kind of crappy when it comes to dealing with them physically but they don't make the headphone sound bad. That's ridiculous, I have an after market cable as well and there's no change in sound.

I don't have an "condensation" issues with S12pro. I don't work out with them in my ears and I don't wear IEMs outside in the freezing cold or when it's really hot so I'd sweat all over the them. That's just me though I know people do. I'd rather have a metal housing anyday then some plastic...

The S15 is not an improvement and not even as good according to some.

If soundstage is a priority keep 6xx and get a multibit DAC and a tube amp. You're not going to get "soundstage" with your current gear.
