New- Zishan Z1 DSD player thread
since this topic is alive again. timing couldn't coincide better. my z1 was not in use for more than 1 year, last night wanted to use for a test but measured huge dc offset; 8.5-9V for both channels.. LO has no problem, around 2-3mV. I have tried numerous opamps, resoldered caps and opamp...- endia

DIY Earbuds
@vygas, thanks for the info; i was thought that color dots are unique for the driver or something distinctive sign for tuning.. i bought two units, one came with 350xxx, another with 386xxx. the above photos are from the 350 one. it was not difficult to detach the driver from the shell, but i...- endia

DIY Earbuds
it was a popular driver years ago.. i have build two pairs of them into mx760 shells in a regular way. its not easy to fit into mx500 shell if i remember correctly. it's sound character is very close to 130 ohm beryllium without tuning but 130 ohm is better in almost every aspect for me. but i...- endia

The Opamp thread
if it designed to work with dual opamps, no, you can't just swap them. but you can use 4 single opamps with 2 'single to dual' adapters.. especially in case if you want to try spesific single opamps, say, opa627 or ad797 etc..- endia

in your first link, it says "64 ohm voice coil" which means it may also responsible for the driver impedance, as i didn't know up to now..- endia

i prefer not to relate it with a sound signature or any kind of subjective context.. rather a technical name of a part in drivers.. more technical information could be found here as well : https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/how-headphone-dynamic-drivers-work- endia

voice coil is an essential part of the driver concept actually.. don't have much technical info about it but it's an electromagnet and responsible for the diaphragm's vibration if i'm not mistaken..- endia

New- Zishan Z1 DSD player thread
lol, it was one of my precious at a time.. i had bought last three from a local store around 15 years ago.. and then followed newer OPAs and ADs in years and they were collecting dust.. found one in my parts bin and immediately put on the Z1. listened to some steely dan, jan garbarek, chet...- endia

The Opamp thread
just a warning for those who want to replace buf634 (or any other buffer) with ha5002 as output buffer; ha5002 has not short circuit protection so plugging or removing the plug from the circuit is potentially risky to damage ha5002s..- endia

DIY Earbuds
i built another one with new metal covers; first noticed thing out of the box is a little boomy midbass and less airy presentation as a result.. but didn't try it with the same cable; it's maybe because of the cable differences.. with a neutral or somewhat cold source it can be shine though..- endia

another option is to replace the battery with a thinner one; stock battery has a 5.4 mm thickness, i replaced it with this 5 mm one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32826499218.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dpWiL4d slightly lower playing time though..- endia

The Opamp thread
you can but you need an adapter since they are not pin compatible. also while doing that, you're losing buffers high output current (250 mA buf634 vs 55 mA opa627) and almost zero output impedance advantages of buffer.. buffers do not amplify signal voltage, it's output is same as the input...- endia

The Zishan dsd's corner
3.5 single ended is the only output on dsd4495 and no resistors there. caps are just between the buf634 and output socket.. afaik. also, it's output impedance is less than 1 according to @hakuzen's measurements; https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-zishan-dsds-corner.826185/page-30#post-13183626.- endia
