I ordered my SE300, and I thank you for writing your impressions, in such an engaging way.
Now I can't wait to have it.
It will be my second DAP , which I will alternate with the fantastic SP3000 😛

Very nice review. Would you have an external portable or desktop amp you could connect the line out of the SE300 and give us your impressions specific to it's DAC section? Thanks very much

@Loftprojection I did use it with Shure KSE1200 which have their own amp however I don't think there is a way to truly bypass the internal amp in the SE300. Yes, there is an option in the menu for line out but you're still using the same output. I didn't hear any noticeble change in sound to be honest when switching to the line out option. Maybe there will be a bigger one if you will be using it with external desktop amplifier but you will be most likely be using different cables as well so it will be hard to judge.

Thanks @siruspan to me it's not a good design on the side of A&K if they haven't got a line out that bypasses the amp circuit at this DAP price point. When you pay that much cash for a DAP it's nice to be able to use it standalone when you are out of the house but as well to connect it to your desktop amp when you work from home and enjoy full scale audio quality with big cans. Thanks anyway for your response.

Your review is excellent...as a former Wm1a owner and current AK owner, I get the comparisons . Plus how you describe the sound of the 300 in laymen's terms makes for one of the better reviews I've seen in awhile.

Nice review, I got a lot of information out of it. I think I will stick with my Chord Hugo2 and SP2000. It sounds like I don't need to upgrade yet.
