Nice review. I obviously did not have the chance to listen to it long enough to give such an in-depth assessment. It's interesting you find the upper mids to be recessed when the recessed mids complaints for the TH900 is related to the dip at the lower mids (500 Hz). I personally did not recall issues with the upper mids for the TH-X00, at least not in the way the UE900 has sucked out upper mids.

yeah, I think the big adjustment made was to add lower/middle mids (600Hz to 2kHz) on the THX00.  I think the upper mids are probably lower than the TH900, along with the treble being lowered.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!  Quick question, did you like the "hide and expand" formatting style?  Was the first time I'd written a review that way.

Very nice review!  I like both formats personally.

In your opinion, which headphone would make a better complementary pair to my hd650:  400i or TH-x00?

@mysticstryk Can't advice since many headphones I got has a good reviews and recommendation and it fell short of my expectations than ATH-M40fs (w a bit lack of mid bass but detailed retrieval and low bass is amazing) for Symphony and Guitar.

Audition is your best choice and let see if X00 could meet my expectation when testing Studio Ghibli concert for stage, detailed and frequency.

Eager to see when measurements analysis are posted by guys, maybe it appears somewhere on the web already. Particularly interested in 30 Hz Square Waves - the leading edge, tilt, slope, drop, central dipping, rounded shoulders, and excursion below zero baseline.

@fjrabon Outstanding review! And I liked the "hide and expand" formatting. Even though I read all of it, it does make it a lot easier to skim  / jump to the parts of interest.

I was on the fence about the TH-X00, taking all the semi-mainstream press hype they've been getting with a grain of salt, but your observations convinced me that they'll be a good counterpart to my HiFiMans, so I bit the bullet and joined the 2nd drop just under the wire.

Thank you (and curse you!) for taking the time to write it! :)
