Nicely written up.
Coincidentally last friday i had a chance to hear quite a few beasts back to back:
Empyreans, Heddphones, Utopias, LCD-4, hd800s and mist mindblowing thing - Mysphere earspekers and compare them against each other based on same songs
Nice review @gLer. Now I need to try these. I just traded my HD800S's and the HEDDphone looks like it could a nice replacement or even an upgrade soundwise.
@Slim1970 it's definitely an upgrade over the HD800 sound wise, but just keep in mind it weighs a ton and needs serious amplification to do it justice.
i considered the hedd for a good while (almost purchased an open box) but the weight, driver crinkling and amplification requirements eventually turned it from a potential purchase to would really like to hear. now, if i do spend for another headphone, the one i am currently eyeing is the meze empyrean; but, no rush, i am fairly content with my "mid-fi" hd650 and lcd2.
I have no idea @branislav. It was imported a month ago direct from HEDD so I can only assume it's the second version (I didn't realise there were multiple versions).
At gLer...thank you. Supposedly second version has a revised headband so possibly less clamping force. How is the comfort when not sitting but actually laying down on a pillow? Do they stay on the head? Thank you

I concur with most everything you stated!
Owning the Empyreans, the Hedds , Clear MG PRO etc...
The Hedds are superlative and for the price the are indeed TOTL.
They indeed like power, I use a Schiit Jot 2, PassLabs HPA-1 and sometimes the pre-amp out of the HPA-1 into a Ultravalve 6CA7 tube amp....10/10
Again very nice review!
