Excellent review and musical taste!

I am a big fan of "The National". I can say that I have listened to the complete 6 hours of "A Lot of Sorrow".

I think I've told you once in the forum, but I insist on the ISN G4 with the Serial. Will not disappoint you. In fact, it is one of the cables that does not disappoint or go wrong with any IEM.

Natural timbre is one significant thing Serial should be appreciated for...
But really needs lot of burn in,
in order for the sound field to open up....
After that... you simply cannot get any better in terms of tonality & timbre.....

I love this, so detailed and thorough, very relatable descriptions and comparisons. True credit to a masterpiece, and with Penon, any reviews different to the same 2 sources again and again adds so much credibility to how great these really are.
(No offense to the 2 reviewers, it just always helps credibility to have more opinions available, and not enough folks share about their Penon experiences.)

Sub bass: 40-20 Hz; Bass: 40-160Hz; Mid bass: 160-300 Hz. Music doesn't go from sub bass straight to mid bass like the majority of reviewers state. Most of what reviewers call sub bass is actually bass. Very little music has any true sub bass. It's not correct to call any frequencies below 100 Hz sub bass, it is mostly bass. If you look up the frequency response of all instruments, the electric bass and string bass have their lowest note tuned to 41Hz. So it's correct to say sub bass has to be 40 Hz and below. Can't be anything else.

True sub bass live ( like a cathedral pipe organ) physically vibrates your diaphragm!

Not to argue, but sub bass when looking at instruments is from 60Hz and down. Personally I only use the terminology Sub-Bass for the lowest part 60Hz and down, while Bass goes up to the Mids around 250Hz. I talk about Bass closer to the Mids as Mid Bass.

Not the last word about treble extension imo, and technical chops (If I considering the best products I know about that particular thing) but yes, these Serial seriously rock !!! The tones and timbres are very good. Warm but detailled and natural. Very good impact, very good low end. Recommended... at any price !...

Sad to see missng the "stone guest" UM 3DT, which embodies a totally different, less romantic jet more technical 3DD take (someone reported a peculiar
BAfeel in these DDs, which may not attract everybody). These two, Serial and UM 3DT, are uniquely complementar 3DD iems produced around the same times. A marvel.
