I agree it is a very mild v shaped IEM and also agree it is very dry sounding. IF you never heard the Summer now those are very neutral. A bit too much actually, also very dry sounding. Not the best Reecho phones to be honest.
insects awaken is an all BA set. Its a more technical set in that you're going to get more detail, but the sound balancing is better on the Spring MK2 with much better value for your money. Better tonal characteristics with better balancing. Insects awaken is more V shaped in tuning so it won't be as versatile as the Sprink MK2. Not worth the extra IMO. There are better sets for that kind of money nowadays.
If possible, may you A B the reecho spring 2 and the yanyin moonlight and give your opinions. I have novice ears and the reecho is my most expensive set. I was able to try the moonlights and loved it on many tracks. On "Love You Bad feat (Phoelix)" everything sounded full the bass especially but from 0:07 to 0:18 on "KICK BACK" it sounded very dull and the guitar was very far away and at 1:06 the bass just sounded dull compared to my reecho. i would appreciate if you could give your opinion as well on those 2 tracks.
to add on like how you wrote in your review of the moonlight the great imaging and soundstage made all the tracks i tried go to the next level but on KICK BACK the great imaging made the track worse. Im not sure if this is a mastering issue
Moonlights are more neutrally tuned including its bass end. If you feel something might be lacking after listening to the Reecho Spring 2 thats because the Reecho Spring 2 is more boosted for its upper mids and bass end vs the moonlights. So it will be natural to feel like the guitars are not as forward or have bass that might not sound as impactful.
An issue with the moonlights is that they are very sensitive to source matching too. Its 8 Ohm impedance makes them very susceptible for wrong match ups with sources. If you have the wrong source it can sound even lean and or thinner than they actually sound. Even weaker for bass and thins out the upper mids presence. Moonlights is the an iem that demads the best sources and more importantly a dedicated source for sensitive IEMs. Actually sounds better in single ended vs balanced due to this issue. Unfortunately the moonlights are a bit too sensitive for its own good and can sound like you described if you dont have them connected to a low Ohm output dedicated DAP.
oh it could've been a source issue as i tested them with the tanchjim space which has 230mw 32 ohms output ._. . May i clarify that you are talking about output power (230mw32ohm) and not output impendence (2ohm only)
may i ask if you needed to use rubber spacers as on some sources only the right side was working, even on the tanchjim space i had to twist the male connection in the female port for the sound to be even
