Tennmak Pro Dual Dynamic Driver Professional In-Ear Sport Detach Earphone Headphones with Microphone & Remote(black)

New Head-Fier
Pros: Extremely well detailed and balanced sound, Punchy bass, High build quality, Comfortable earbuds
Cons: Balanced sound, so not ment for bass-heads, Semi L-shaped headphone jack (45 degrees)
The Tennmak Pro are dynamic drivers earphones, that are offering a great surrounding sound, which you don’t find much within this budget. The sound is characterized by a lot of detail, balance and accuracy. Furthermore, their design offer great comfort, that prevents the earphones from falling off. Let’s take a look at the Tennmak Pro Review.
Tennmak_Pro_01.jpg
Sound
The sound of the Tennmak Pro is of great quality, which can be described as a very balanced and detailed sound. Whereas a lot of other earphones always have a emphasis on a certain frequency range, the Tennmak Pro delivering a really balanced out sound. First of all, the bass offers great depth and is punchy. However, it’s present on the right level. Bass-heads may prefer other earphones, since these earphones are really detailed and focused on a balanced sound. The mid’s are also great, with a detailed sound they are able to produce clear vocals without being pushed into the back. The mid’s are more likely to be over-presenting then under-presenting. Finally the high’s are smooth and crispy, and really on the right level. Other earphones sometimes have high’s that are not pleasant to listen too. Something what characterized these earphones, is that all sounds (lows, high’s and mids) are really balanced and pleasant to listen too. No overpresenting bass that pushes away other sounds, detailed mid’s and the right high’s. All in all, for this price one of the most accurate earphones I have listened too!

Design & Build Quality
The Tennmak Pro are fitting really nice. Due to its design, they are fitting really secure, which make them nice for working-out. The construction of the Tennmak Pro also looks and feel really solid. The earbuds are made of translucid plastic. Also the Tennmak Pro’s have a detachable cable, that is feeling thick and solid which provides it’s a really premium look and feel. The headphone jack is semi-L shaped (it’s in a 45 degrees way), which is for me a bit down side, because I prefer the L-shaped plugs. Putting the cable back tot he earbuds can be a bit of a struggle, I advice to do this carefully since it can be a bit hard.
Tennmak_Pro_08.jpg
Comfort
The shape of the Tennmak Pro’s make them really comfortable. They stick greatly in your ears, without falling out due to the end of the earbud cable. These cables are pre-shaped on the ends, which causes that they really stay on their place. The earbuds can be easily inserted into your ears, and stay comfortable over time, which makes it great for long listening sessions.
Tennmak_Pro_09.jpg
Conclusion
Overall the Tennmak Pro’s deliver great value for money! On the market these are the best dual drivers you can find for the money. The balanced sound the Tennmak Pro’s deliver, is something really great within this price range. For me they beat the KZ ATE easily, and compared to the KZ ZS3 it depends on the sound you prefer. If you prefer a well balanced sound, you should stop searching and buy the Tennmak Pro’s. If you more the bass-head kind of type the KZ ZS3 will maybe suite you better. Personally, I prefer these over the KZ ZS3. All in all, if you are looking for a dual driver earphone, you should really try these ones out. Hopefully you enjoyed reading the Tennmak Pro review!

Does it dethrone the KZ ZS6,? I follow your reviews to buy chinese earphones always. I prefer neutral signature with proper attack and decay.

Introduction

This is the first IEM that got me started in level chi-fi. Reason being there's not many branded IEM that uses dynamic drivers. Mostly they prefer to use BA but recently Dynamic Drivers are making a coming back ( similar to Vinyl ) because of it's expertise in the lower end (bass) of the sound spectrum.

The reason DD has better bass is due to the large drivers that is able to move more air volume. Imagine bookshelves vs floorstanders, who has the better bass? Of course it's the latter

General
The IEM is easy to drive and comes with a rubber casing. Besides that, the stock cable comes with a MIC which is useful for smartphone users.

Shure_SE215_K_SE215_Sound_Isolating_In_Ear_Stereo_758631.jpg

To the unitiated it looks very much like Shure 215 and according to some Head-Fi-ers, it's much better than Shure which costs $99.

Comfort/Fit
It's pretty comfortable as the IEM is quite small as compared to the KZ ZS5 ( current Flavor of the Month ).

Regarding the FIT, like any IEM, it must be sealed properly in order to obtain a much fuller sound with good bass. As I have JVC Spiral Tips on hand, I used them instead of the stock ones. It gave me a better seal ( a few db isolation from the environment and it gave me significantly improved bass )

Mod/Hack
You may also tape the vents to increase the mid and sub bass. It's a free upgrade, why try if effort is low and returns are huge :)

Sound

In general, the sound signature is dark/warm and one can listen to the Tennmak without any fatigue for long hours. Sound stage is slightly above average.

Lows
Bass is punchy ,controlled and taut with emphasis at the mid bass. Minimal sub bass but it sounds thick due to the mid bass bump.

Mids
Vocals are forward and thick and it would appeal to those that like it forward.

Highs
Warm signature, No sibilance with good enough details. If you're a detail freak, you might not like this IEM.

Conclusion
It's a dark IEM with emphasis on the bass and thick mids. Due to SE215 inspired design, it's very comfortable and it's ( safe ) sound signature will appeal to most of us as I keep picking up this IEM eventhough I owned the MEMT X5, ZS5 , Xiaomi Pro HD.

I would suggest getting the JVC Spiral Dots and do the vent mod and pair it with a neutral/brighter dac/amp.

Thanks for reading my review.

2024 Update

It's been quite a few years since I wrote these reviews and my general impressions on some of the products I reviewed have changed drastically, as has the budget IEM market since this was written. Please keep that in mind as you read the following paragraphs. I update the rating of the IEMs because I feel that nowadays these are completely obsolete both in terms of sound and build quality.

Introduction

Tennmak is one of the better known Chi-fi brands here on head-fi and they have a few models that have a rather vocal following like the Crazy Cellos, you’ve surely seen name-dropped a few times on the IEM sub-forum, the Piano or the Dulcimer. One of the least talked about Tennmak models though has become and been, for the past few months, a comforting earphone that I find myself picking up, more often than not, over alternatives that by almost all measures sound better. This review is an exploration of why that is the case.

Disclaimer

I purchased two units Tennmak Pro after hearing about them sharing a very similar shape with the Shure SE215 which when I was looking for an earphone that was comfortable to use with a motorcycle helmet or while lying down sideways on my bed. The first of the two units had its cover snap open after I removed my bike helmet and one of the wires inside the unit came off. It was easy enough to fix with a bit of solder, but nonetheless felt a bit disappointing (More on this the Build Quality part of this review). Despite being disappointed with what happened with their shell, I almost immediately ordered a second unit because the few days I spent without them made me miss them terribly in certain situations.

Preamble (about me)

I am 33 year old IT worker/manager who appreciates a wide range of music. Lately, I’ve been more inclined to listen to Soul/Hip Hop/Jazz (basically Nujabes’ work), Jazz (Frank by Amy Winehouse), Michael Jackson, Phill Collins, Florence + the Machine and whatever else catches my interest.

Build / Accessories / Pricing

At the time of writing the Tennmak Pro is priced at 23.05 euros with a basic MMCX cable and is available in dark translucent color or transparent enclosure.

case1.jpgcase2.jpg
The case has a nice understated design and is soft to the touchThe case can comfortably carry the earphone as long as my SMSL iDEA and its USB cable.

I found the packaging and accessories for this earphone to be rather generous. The box itself they come in is a rather typical cardboard box that features a simple but practical and tasteful presentation. Although I appreciate nice packaging, I prefer when a company’s efforts and budget are put into the product itself and things that might enhance it, and I’m glad to say that is the case with the Pro.

Inside the box you will find that they come with the rather standard array of 3 pairs of different-sized silicon tips, the earphone pieces, a cable and a very nice hard carrying case that can comfortably fit the Tennmak Pro and other accessories within a small net pocket on top side of the case.

cable - connector.jpgcable - plug.jpgcable - remote.jpgcable - y split.jpg
45 degree plugMMCX connector1 Button RemoteY split

The cable for the Tennmak Pro is one of my favourite earphone cables, out of all the ones I own. Unlike, for example, the stock KZ cables they are not springy nor have a lot of memory with a single light stretch usually being enough to straighten them out almost entirely.

The Y-splitter has ample strain relief which is matched by the rather outstanding 45 degrees angled stereo plug that is thin enough, I believe, to fit in most devices even with cases.

The other end of the cable has ear guides which help keep the Pros in place rather securely and don’t provide any sort of discomfort, at least to my ears.

In terms of build quality, the earpieces are built of a darkened semi-translucent plastic and the two shell pieces are held together by attrition of three very thin plastic tips. I know these because one of my units unfortunately opened after I removed my helmet after a relatively short trip. I don’t know exactly what caused them to come apart, whether it was the excessive pressure of the helmet or if I inserted the helmet in a bad way. This is the first earphone I’ve ever had this issue with and I’m not entirely sure if I can blame Tennmak because testing such a thing with other earphones is simply not feasible. My second unit has not ever come separated despite being used in the same manner as the first so perhaps it was just human error on my part.

The MMCX connectors despite not having failed on me yet felt slightly lose from the start and the cable will rotate around the connector without much effort. On Tennmak’s store page they mention that the newest version of the Pro has a tighter connector but that isn’t the case with my units. With that said, I’ve had no sound issues with the MMCX connector, despite having to solder the first unit that broke, the sound exhibits absolutely no issues even when I try to rotate the earphone cable.

Fit / Comfort / Isolation

earphone - nozzle.jpgearphone - profile.jpg
My, my... what a big nozzle you haveObligatory profile picture

Although they won’t gain any points for originality, the Tennmak Pro’s design and fit feels very reminiscent of Shure’s SE line of earphones. That is to say that these are by far the most comfortable earphones I have. No other earphones come close to offering the level of comfort these do.

Because of their rounded shape and relatively long nozzle, they reach slightly deeper into my ear canal without any point becoming uncomfortable. It should be noted, for the purpose of this review, that people with slimmer ear-canals might not find these as comfortable as I do.

Because the Pro don’t stick out of your ear immensely and have an almost negative profile when they are being worn you can comfortably using lying down on your bed sideways or with a motorcycle-helmet over them.

Earphone comfort/isolation/tips is a personal matter that will vary on a case by case basis but I am rather confident that most people would have a, more-than-adequate seal and comfort with the Tennmak Pro and I can say that more assuredly than I can for any other earphone I own and use. For anyone curious about which tips I prefer to use, I like to use the KZ “starline” tips which are available on many stores on Aliexpress like ****.

Sound Quality

Not only are the Tennmak unique for their shape and comfort, within my selection of earphones, but they have a signature that is unlike any other earphone or headphone I have.

The Pro have a weak sub-bass to mid-bass response which lends them a cold characteristic to the sound with some tracks. With that said, what little bass response there is can be improved with the usage of Comply foam tip and/or deeper insertion into the ear canal. In bass-heavy tracks, I found that despite the weak response the bass is well controlled and doesn’t bleed into the other frequencies which lends itself well to the crispness of the sound.

Speaking of crispness, the mids and highs have a rather crisp detail that is impressive, though not unprecedented, at this price range. Vocals feel forward and lively, whether they are male or female, whether the voices are high-pitched or deep, strong or weak I’ve found the Tennmak Pro rather nice at resolving vocal details without without being recessed or overbearing.

The soundstage feels rather thin on the Pro but there is a decent instrument separation. Despite others commenting on how they can at times sound congested, particularly with bass, I found it very hard to feel any sort of sound congestion with them.

The highs are fairly bright and sparkly and can at times go near sibilancy, but for the most part they are controlled in their and have never reached a point that made them uncomfortable for me. I can wear and listen to music on the Pro all day long without any sort of hearing fatigue.

To put it in a short sentence, I find that to my ears the Tennmak Pro’s sound is cold, crisp and comfortable.

Conclusion

With everything said and done, the Tennmak Pro are an extremely comfortable and easy-to-listen-to earphone that will please most people that appreciate laid-back sound signatures or just want a good-sealing or very comfortable earphone to use whenever they want.

If you don’t like cold sound signatures perhaps these won’t be the best earphones for you. If you aren’t one of those people, the Tennmak Pro are very easy to recommend within their price range and remain an unique option, in terms of sound signature, among the selection of other affordable chi-fi IEMs I own.

While I pickup and listen to other IEMs on and off for periods of time, I always have a Tennmak Pro at hand even if it's only to listen to music in bed for a few minutes until I fall asleep and there are few earphones I can say that about.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Obviously very good soundstage for a $30 earphone
Cons: vocal is a little bit dark at the beginning, but with some burning in, it fixed
I was very happy with the earphone. With only $30, I got good quality earphone. The packaging is very good, the build quality is solid with some ear tips sizes, but only got one foam ear tips, that's okay btw considering the cheap price. And I get a premium looking pouch as well :)

The sound quality is actually very surprising, the bass is very rich but not too overpowering, and when I turn up the volume up there is no distortion detected. At the beginning, the vocal sounds dark but with some burning in, a day or so, it will fixed straight away. I can't really complain considering it only cost me $30!!  I can even compare this to my Shure SE215, although the sound colour is obviously different.

Pros: Very musical, meaty accurate bass, 3D sounding, fantastic value
Cons: At it's price... none so far.
WOW WOW WOW... the Tennmak Pro is one hell of an IEM. I had really high hopes for it after reading some reviews and was hoping I hadn't made a mistake as was undecided between it or the Dulcimer or Banjo.

BUILD

Super comfy, very secure fit. I'm not normally big for cables that loop over ear as a lot don't keep their shape too well, especially a budget one. Looks wise it looks a bit like the MEE Pinnacle 1, but slightly smaller. Having a detachable cable at £25 is a nice bonus and it is very secure

SOUND

It's a very unique signature, with an exceptional soundstage. The best soundstage I have heard yet was either RHA M750/T20 or Dunu Dn 1000, all having great width and depth. The Ten Pro though has width, depth... but it's the first time I've also heard instruments at the back of my head and in front of my forehead. It places the instruments and vocals in a way I've never heard before... all round my head. It is rich with a meaty sound that reminds me a bit like the M750 or pinnacle 1. But again, this takes nothing away from the details it provides. Separation is good too, helped again with it's big soundstage.

Detail levels are excellent... top to bottom.

One of my fav tests for an IEM is Queen's We Are The Champions. It has a big tuneful bass, great guitars and the lead and background vocals are kept disconnected from each other in the soundstage so that the lead takes central stage and the harmonies flow either side as if creeping in and out without overlapping the lead vocal. The Ten Pro provides one of the best versions I've heard to date. For the first time I've heard Brian May's guitar moving around my head, very 3D like. The piano and bass are very musical and Freddie's lead vocal is so articulate. Bass has that big fun sound, not the best resolution I've heard... but it's accurate and doesn't bleed into mids. Highs possibly take the back seat but there's plenty detail there.

It's slightly V shaped, some may think the mids are slightly recessed... but i mean very slightly. Again, nothing is left out... micro detail is good for a budget IEM.

So far i think this could replace either my Dunu DN 1000 (£130) and RHA T20 (£180) as my everyday pair. Sure the dynamics may not be as good, but it's a non fatiguing sound and extremely musical.

I've hit it with quite a few genres and impressed each time. i haven't tried classical yet though as it's not really my thing.

For those of you who like delving into the budget market, this is the best I've found yet. If you look at my profile you'll see I've built up a small arsenal of IEMs since I started this hobby in January, most of which fall in the £60-200 range and this is definitely one of my favourites. I've been really impressed recently with the standard of some of the cheaper brands like Xiamoi. At £25 or cheaper if you get it from Asia you get a comfy, fun IEM with a detachable cable.

my other favourite budget set was the DZAT-DF10 which shares a similar sound signature, but the Ten Pro is def a step up.

What would i pay for it... £70-100

@harry501501 Thx for the good review. I can share almost completely your impressions and comparisons with the RHA's. Yes, I also would compare them soundwise with IEM's in this price league. Must point out that the Tennmak Pro are imo definitely another league compared to the DZAT and Dulcimer mentioned here. The Pros are my favorites since I received them some months ago. But I had to improve the mids and highs by EQ (in fact I turned down bass and sub bass by appr. 2dB) and definitely use different tips as the originals swallows too many details and clarity . I use some of the MM SW3 with same bore but harder jacket. I own many types of tips but these where the only ones that unveiled the sparkling ability of the Pros to my ears. At Aliexpress for 1.50$ available. On the other hand they are slightly fatiguing the sound but the win in the other sections are worth it. Really impressive sound!

@demo-to, appreciate the color you added. I received my pair this AM and, after a few hours burn-in, i have them in right now, about 3 tracks in on a dj set i'm listening to. Comfort-wise, these are great, can hardly tell they're there. Your notes about the various tips intrigues me, though. Question for you, how would you go about figuring out which size tips to pick up for this set? (appreciate your specific suggestion above, too, btw.) i'm really fond of the spiral dots i've got, which always seem to sound great but i didn't get anything size specific, so they work better with some of my iem's than others. Is there a lookup table somewhere, or some means of figuring out which sized tips work best for different brand/model IEM's?

Pros: superb sound as 3 driver balanced armature, they are may be better than my ultimate ears fi 10
Cons: maybe for somebody(big body of headphones)
I tried about 60 pair earphones in last two years from 5$ to 500$. This is biggest suprise for me. They sound 15x more than cost. FOR 20 $ is amazing. Try with comply foam tips.

Pros: Dynamic weighty sound with excellent instruments separation, good present mids and round punchy bass. Very comfortable. Good construction.
Cons: Give them a little more mids and treble sparkle and they will sound like 200$ earphones.
Tennmak Pro Review :

P8100030-copie.jpg

After having in my possession for a while my beloved Tennmak Dulcimer, I have decided to give a try to the Tennmak Pro because they have a dual drivers as well as a detachable cable. Let me say that I do not regret it and even if I have big attempt because of some positive impressions from headfier it surpass it to a point that I feel it's unfair to compare it with other earphones from it's price range. Chinese earphones market grow fast and the quality we can get for little money (from westerner point of view) is just incredible, lot of exemple of this (not so) hidden gems can be found on my ''Best sub-100$ earphones'' thread and I just begin to explore this market. However, really good sounding earphones still are exception, good sounding are easy to find but when we have everything like excellent construction, sound and comfort in one pair of earphones this is something special and the Tennmak Pro is the perfect exemple. Level of details, instruments separation texture, bass and soundstage is out of this world for his 25-30$ price. For me this is one of my favorite all-arounder custom earphones and the most comfortable for long listening session, I will like to try them with different cable and will perhaps update this review when I will test them with silver plated cable as I do not use the mic fonction of the cable it came with, wich is a very good quality one.

Package came in a little Tennmak box with 3 pairs of silicone eartips and a nice little case. Simple and classy.

CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN :

Tennmak Pro construction is very good even if the earshell is made of translucid plastic. It look sturdy and feel solid in our hands. As the earshell are quite small for dual drivers it is very comfortable to wear and stood well in ears, you do not have to struggle to insert it correctly because the form factor do it for you. The detachable cable is thick, very flexible and of high quality, releive strain is good and you never ear any microphonic noise because of over ear design, you must pull hard to disconnect it tough, as well as pushing very hard (and carefully) to plug it back, it can be a little stressfull as I was afraid to break inner connection because I really need to push hard to connect the cable. All in all, this is incredible quality construction we get for such little money!

P8100036-copie.jpgP8100038-copie.jpg
P8100042-copie.jpg
As seen, the Tennmak are about two third of the size of the Ownluxe, wich make them one of the smaller Dual Drivers you can find in this form factor.

SOUND IMPRESSIONS & COMPARAISONS :

DAP  used for this review : Ibasso Dx90, Xduoo X3, ONN X5
Ibasso Dx90: More organical and clear sounding, excellent instruments separation, details in abondance, little roll off vocal.
Xduoo X3 : Energic sound, little lack of air and cleannest, more foward vocal than Dx90, slightly bigger soundstage, mid bass bump.
ONN X5 : Bright sounding, fowards vocals that is well suited for the Pro, less clean sounding and smaller soundstage, shy instruments separation more ''in-your-face'' sounding of the 3 DAP.

Dual Drivers Earphones for comparaisons : Somic V4, Ownluxe A1, VJJB V1S

Somic V4 : Brighter than the Pro, more neutral sounding, smaller soundstager and less bassy, little harsh sounding and more highs. Tennmak are more musical and comfortable but less analytical.

Ownluxe A1: Darker sounding than the Pro, bigger soundstager and more decay in sub bass region, more air between instruments, less detailed but very good if you like the soundsignature. Pro are better all arounder and smaller and more comfortable. Tennmak Cable produce less microphonic too.

VJJB V1S : Brighter than the Pro, with little more micro details, smaller soundstager and less bass. Harsh texture and less musicality than the pro, less clean sounding too.

LOWS:
Perhaps the Tennmak Pro aren't exactly basshead earphones but they have plenty of it that will be enough to please any bass lover. Lows are thick and weighty with good sub bass and resolution, not extremely textured and on the warm side but really easy and fun to listen to. Bass is the first they that you enjoy with this earphones because it make the sound full and extremely enjoyable because of the immersive soundstage that it have too. You do not need lot of power to get the big punch, with other earphones sometime bass will be weak because amping isn't giving enough juice, with the Pro it will be right sounding with any DAP, Xduoo X3 and ONN X5 do not have any difficulties to have proper amping, even a Ruizu X02 will give enough power to get a full, thick sound out of the Pro wich is something to seriously take in account when you want the right earphones.

MIDS :
Even if the lows are quite immense and authoritative, vocals aren't drown in it, it sit there with great details and texture even if it isn't in a very foward way. If you use a DAP with fowards mids it will sound better for sure, the ONN X5 is a good exemple of this and his bright sound with mids bump is a great duo with the warm, clean and bassy Tennmak. Because of the good instruments separation medium range is well articulated and fully represented, not hiss to be heard or weak frequencies tweak that make it feel unatural, this is smooth sounding mids with great presence that sit comfortably on the vast bass.

HIGHS :
As a warm and forgiving sounding dual drivers earphones the Tennmak Pro have a sparkly treble with a little roll off at the bottom end of highs. Details are well rendered tough and never sound harsh or forced, it flow naturally and even if it is not an ultra analytical earphones we enjoy a full sounding experience with excellent dynamic and instruments separation. I find the Pro more detailed than the Ownluxe that cost twice the price but as the form factor suggest, the soundstage is a little smaller. The VJJB V1 are more bright and foward treble wich make them a little more detailed but congested too, as if the sound is squeez for his juice, I do not like agressive sounding earphones wich is why the Tennmak Pro is my favorite of all this dual drivers earphones, it have a easy listening sound that have weight to it wich make sound presentation more exciting and organic, the sound space is very lively and immersive and because of the warm sound signature it is an excellent all arounder earphones that can suit any style and excell with most of them.

P8100033-copie.jpg

FINAL WORDS:

As a owner of more than 20 different earphones, I cannot say I use them all on a regular basis. The Tennmak Pro is one of the rare exception and since I have them they are my go to earphones when I go outside, their comfort and always friendly sound make them a daily joy. I really don't think you can have better dual drivers earphones under 50$ and i'm not sure under 100$ neither (will have to test more of this price range). To be honnest I prefer the Tennmak to the Ownluxe A1 too wich have a clumsy cable and lack in mids and details, even if they sound very good the soundsignature is more capricious. If you search for an excellent dual drivers earphones that are small, extremely comfortable, do not make microphonic noise, got a weighty sound with excellent bass performance, present mids, good soudstage and excellent instruments separation do not look further, this can be the end game for you. I can't recommend enough the Tennmak Pro, they are an exception that make look the KZ ZS1 like a toy and the VJJB V1S like an austere sounding experience.

I buy my Tennmak Pro at Tennmak Official store and think it's the best price you can find them:

Hello and thank you for your review. I was wondering if you by any chance would know the difference between these and a pair of Moxpad X6? I've been looking for budget MMCX connector type IEMs as a starting point for myself before I start diving into higher budget IEMs and so far I've only really seen these two that have the MMCX connectors.
